Comment:

The class was boring, but as long as you showed up and completed the assignment, you passed. The entire class was based on participation and was essentially a joke, but it took care of the GEP. If he assigns an essay, put your full effort into it, because its literally the only thing that is truly graded by him. I lost brain cells in this class.

In terms of teaching, he is quite average. Lots of assignments that he briefly explains and then you do them for the next few days. He can be quite monotonous, especially when you take his class at 8 am. But he is a very caring guy, He will clear up anything you have questions on and jokes around in class

Comment:

Dr. Harvey is an exceptional man and a fine human being. He is very thoughtful, and he will most definitely emphasize the importance of critical thinking. That being said, this class is about applying yourself and using your brain. Show up, do the work, and you won't have problems. If you're not willing to do your best, then you're out of luck.

Dr. Harvey is not given as much credit as what past reviews have (I actually tried to avoid him from what I saw. He, actually, is not a bad guy. Pretty easy guy to get along with. First couple of weeks he lectured, but after that, basically group work with your partner. Avoid skipping class though; a lot of busy work. Would take again!

Since the classes are usually 3 hours long, if you miss a class, it's on your own to get with your lab partner to get everything done. Almost the whole class is group work & he really does try to get everyone involved. The class isn't that interesting but it is definitely an easy A & if you put in effort you'll get a good grade.

Doctor Harvey is a great prof not sure why so many people are having issues with him... If you go to class and you do the work you'll get an A.. I got a C+ because i skipped about 5 classes, it was my freshamn year, but ive have him for ornithology and he teaches the class in the same grading format and got a 95%, hes a great prof. Take him!!!!!

Some discussions were understandable, others were not. Not the toughest teacher. Tests were pretty difficult unless you spend your whole semester studying, which most students don't have time for seeing as you usually have more than just one class. Take someone else if others are offered.

I don't understand why Harvey has so many bad ratings. I had him during my very first semester, and I did fine. I thought he was a pretty cool guy. You just can't be lazy in his class.

Avoid if at all possible not matter how much you study you will likely not pass a test. Don't bother with notes or copying the power slides none of it will be on the tests. Expects you to know it before he teaches and tests are made for you to apply your non-exsistant knowledge not what the book chapter covers.Avoid,Avoid,Avoid!!!

He def. knows his stuff, but doesn't understand how to teach it to students who know nothing about the subject. He expects you to know it as soon as he tells you. He uses power points, which are useless, and passes out study guides, which are also useless because the stuff he tells you to study is never on the test.. THINK TWICE BEFORE TAKING HIM!

He doesn't understand that we are there to learn and we don't understand. I'd e-mail him and ask for meeting times and he'd never e-mail me back or even check it. He told us what to study for tests and the tests were completely different. Nothing on the tests are really what we covered. STAY AWAY if possible!

hes too knowledgable in his field to understand how it is complicated for those who are beginners i had a intro class with him and it was brutal, the tests were impossible...even when i studied and knew the material frontwards and backwards a D was about as good as it could get...definetly need to be an over-achiever to do well in a harvey class

DR HARVEY WAS A GREAT PROFESSOR. THIS WAS MY SECOND TIME TAKING BIOLOGY. THE FIRST TIME I RECIEVED A "D" I TOOK DR. HARVEY AND RECIEVED AN "A". MY AVERAGE WAS NOT SO HIGH BUT AFTER MY EXTRA CREDIT I RECIEVED AN "A" HE IS A GOOD PROFESSOR I ADVISE YOU TO TAKE HIM NEXT TO ALLEY
