Susan is a really great person and is always up to see you outside of class. The class its self is very boring and tends to drag on. But, she is a good professor and has helped me grow as a writer through the feedback she gives.

I took her Linguistics class, and she loved to see how we reacted to the material. She also gave us space to feel comfortable asking rediculous questions, and made sure that we just had fun in the class. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in language at all. Though, be prepared to print like fifteen copies of a paper once or twice.

I have read the comments and believe that those who got a C where because they came late to class and or have a missing assignment. If you are going to buy books from her I would recommend you to buy used. There are some books in which you will need a code. I would strongly recommend buying the book used and an online code cheaper.

Doesn't believe in grade inflation, and by that she means will only give you C's even if you work with her a lot.

Great teacher, you could tell she was really into her topic (Linguistics). She's a wonderful teacher for 104 because she does a good job of transiting students to the "next level" of writing. She was really easy to talk to and very understanding. I'm glad I took her class.

She was very kind and easy to understand. She doesn't seem to give out too much work; my class only had to write four papers, which were, on average, rather easy to write.

I am a Towson U. student who took Professor Garrett's linguistics course last spring. She provides a thorough introduction to the field without overwhelming students. The textbook reading and hw assignments are critical to understanding the material and should not be neglected. Take this class if you have an interest in linguistics.

Her class wasn't too exciting but it definitely helped me grow a lot as a writer. I learned a lot from being in her class. She can be nitpicky but she's also always willing to help (she's pretty cool about giving extensions for example).

Susan is amazing. One of my favorite professors at Goucher. She makes the class enjoyable and engaging. I would have preferred if the homework had been assigned after we discussed the topic but I still understood it, and it was never too much work to finish. She gives a lot of extra credit so it is easy to make up for missed work.

I should have gotten a C in her class but ended up getting a D because I missed some minor homework assignments. I had to meet with the dean of students because when I emailed an essay to her it didn't work and she sent an APR. Ridiculous.
