Really nice lady, you can tell she genuinely cares about you and your grades. I took a seminar so it was participation based. She is very serious about African history though. Would recommend her if you actually care about school.

She is such an amazing prof, I took her class in Ancient Pre-Colonial Africa, you could tell she was so passionate about the topics she lectured on, which really helped us get into the material. She is a very easy marker, and is willing to help out if you ask. Definitely will be taking her class again.

LOVED professor Klausen! Her lectures are easy to follow and very interesting. Missing a class is not optional though as she does not put her lecture slides online. Very warm and friendly personality and easy to ask questions or get clarification. Will definitely take her classes in the future! :)

One of my favorite professors at carleton. She's so passionate about what she teaches, making the lectures incredibly interesting. Never opened the textbook once and aced all assignments. Assignments and exams are super easy as long as you pay attention in class and take good notes. Seriously love this woman, defintely taking a class with her again

She was great. I can't understand these posts that are critical of her as I have no problem with her teaching and she definitely knows her stuff. She doesn't spoon feed you so maybe that's why some don't like her. But if your interested in the subject then don't hesitate to take the class.

I was genuinely unimpressed with this prof. I can honestly say that I always went into the classes with an open mind and left furious. I felt that the classes were uninspiring and I often felt that she was uninformed. have taken 2 classes w/ her, and to be honest, do not understand what everyone complains about; she is crystal clear, answers and engages question well, is a talented discussion moderator, and despite demanding qualification from students (which is probably why many don't like her), is an easy marker. only complaint: she misses a lot of classes.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! Prior to taking this class I heard a lot of good thing about this prof, but she turned out to be completely clueless. She reads all her notes from the overhead and doesn’t do a good job explaining them. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! I repeat do your self a favor and do not take her class.

she is completely incoherent, falls apart during every lecture, and is unwilling or unable to answer students questions. do NOT take a class with her, especially HIST 3808--this is an important class for history students, and you won't learn a thing from her.

The last person has it right, she really doesn't have an idea about the interworkings of the class. When asked questions she re-poses them to TA's, seems to lose her place very easily, reads slides and lecture notes, without them would likely stare into a a historical abyss. Nothing against her as a person, I just think she chose the wrong career

This prof is useless. She's always losing her place in the lectures that she supposedly prepared! If you ask her a question 9 out of 10 times she won't know the answer even though South Africa is supposed to be her specialty. Very easy assignments and marking but what a waste of space as a professor for an interesting subject

A very helpful and cheerful person. This course is required for the program so she tries to make life easier on students. She also tries to prepare us for fourth year, which is especially kind of her. With that being said however, her lectures are confusing, and she jumps all over the place often. So consider seriously when registering for her clas
