I learned a lot about my personal leadership style with Dr. Vance and how I behave in a group. The exercises we did in class served as a personal guide when times get tough in the real world (ex. when I'm in between jobs and trying to navigate my next chapter). Don't miss out on his class!

I wish this class had more application value in terms of knowledge, tools, and skill sets. We did get to know our classmates well, but I expected more from this class. Kind of disappointed.

Average teacher. Average class and lack of a meaningful learning experience. Most of the learning I did receive, was own my own through readings and discussions with other students. Consider me a disappointed student from this class and this teacher.

Using his background he relates real life problems to the course. There are quite a few books but you have the chance to divide each book to your group. Quite a few guest lecturers that introduce you to new fields. Overall, the class is about understanding who you are.

Loved this class. Vance spends time interacting with students & passing along his vast knowledge base instead of assigning and grading useless busy work with unnecessary page counts. He was inspiring & I really enjoyed this course.

At the beginning, I enjoyed it because he interacted with the class. Then the excitement died since the lectures stopped and the students started teaching the class from the assigned, heavy readings and presentations. It feels more like a therapy then a leadership class. I don't recommend it.

This is by far the best class I have had at Pepperdine. Vance really makes you look inside yourself and evaluate what your purpose in life and in work is. He also gives you skills and tools to help you develop these things.

If you want to better understand yourself and learn tips on how to become a Great Leader in life or business - take this class. It will make you think about things you never thought about and it will help you apply those skills you learn.
