Comment:

I took this class because I had to take it. While it wasn't my favorite class and the lectures are kind of boring, Victoria was a VERY accommodating teacher. I went to her office hours and she was very helpful. If you go to office hours your grade reflects the effort you put in. The assignments aren't bad either. All fairly easy.

Comment:

Class is kind of boring, but Dr. Johnson is one of the few professors I've at had at Mizzou that genuinely cares about the well-being and success of her students. Don't be afraid to approach her for help, because she will go above and beyond for you!

Comment:

This class is boring as her tone is flat. You would want to fall asleep. Her lectures are power-points with tons of words stick together. Her grading criteria is confusing and even if she helps, nothing really changes. The papers are personal opinions, so sometimes you may doubt a little bit. But it only has 2 in-class wring exams!

Comment:

Although she's a nice teacher, some of the time, it's hard to understand what point she is trying to make during class. She has the tendency to make her Powerpoints copy heavy and sometimes, they can be a little confusing so make sure that you ask her questions about the material otherwise you could end up losing a lot of points.

I found the class itself fascinating and Dr. Johnson is incredibly intelligent. However, she is very frazzled and almost never prepared for class and her powerpoint notes are awful. Another downside, the entire class is out of 100 points TOTAL. So even one missed point is a big deal.

I thought the course was very interesting. Our professor is extremely intelligent and brought all the concepts and content to relevant situations, it was very interesting and enjoyable. I also really enjoyed our research projects on social movements. I thought this was a great assignment.

The writing assignments were a great representation of the course work and aided in learning the material more thoroughly. Student teacher interaction is excellent during lecture and also plays a great role in better understanding course content.

Comment:

She seemed to care more about the structure of my paper than the content, which shouldn't be as relevant to a sociology class. Also, if you don't know a lot about politics and the media, don't bother taking the class. She doesn't teach so much as discuss what she assumes you should already know.

She treats us like intelligent human beings.I have never had a professor write as much in response to my work as Prof. Johnson did. I can't say I got the grade I wanted but I was really proud of the work I did.

Dr. Johnson is okay. Politics of the media was awful. By far the worst class I have taken at MU. The class was based out of 100 points and you have to go to class and speak an unreasonable amount to get participation points. I would not recommend to anyone unless they already have in depth knowledge of the subject.

Loved the subject, respected the teacher, hated the class. Johnson is pretty interesting and cares a lot about students learning, but it's easy to zone out. She likes a lot of discussion in class and pairs, which can be irritating. Class reading was more interesting than class.

This was the worst grade but the best class I have taken. Lecture was interesting and she has a good sense of humor, The concepts I learned helped me to understand several current events worldwide.

I was excited to take this class but it quickly became the worst class of my semester. Dr. Johnson made something that should be interesting painfully boring. Her assignments were very vague and she was unwilling to help if needed. The course material is easy, but she makes it hard with her poor teaching skills and assignments.
