Comment:

A very serious woman. We used storify to present material we learned in class, but she was very specific as to what she wanted. Class discussions were sometimes good, but overall it was sort of boring and I dreaded going. I guess it was like any other WS course but she tried and failed at making it different.

This class was very interesting. Professor Ng had a new approach in teaching this class using storify, reading different articles and coming up with a class discussion question. Class participation and attendance counts. Very helpful

Excellent Professor :-). If you attend class, read the assigned readings, discuss them with the class, and complete assignments on time, you will receive a good grade. Professor Ng is a very nice professor that is always willing to help you during class and during her office hours.

She is very passionate about her work. Drink coffee before or during her class. Her accent is nice, but it lulls you to sleep. Weekly quizzes and 3 tests.

If you actually want to learn something about WOMEN in a WOMEN'S STUDIES class, or about lots of diverse cultures, I wouldn't recommend this class. You're required to participate in 2 discussions, however even participating in 3 or 4 doesn't guarantee you a good grade. The films are VERY boring, with the exception of one or two.

In terms of the class, it's a pretty easy A. There is a lot of reading but you don't necessarily have to always do it. There are quizzes which are simple. 3 tests and she gives out questions in advanced. However, you will not be learning about women's history!! I promise!! It's more of slaves and immigrants. Hey, at least her accent's funny :)

The point of the class is to create a STUDENT published e-journal. This class, however, was NOT student based, and the professor continually put her opinions into the process. Further, Professor Ng was not helpful, and rather rude. Take this class only if you are proficient in creating websites and have the patience of a god.

I can't believe that I learned more about women and history from the peer presnetations of their research projects (which we didn't get to finish) than from her the entire semester. Was disappointed, thought we'd actually learn about women in history but almost entire class was based on final paper. Research paper had to be 15-20 pages. But both her and her T.A were extremely helpful, always got back work and were always available if help was needed! She had a good sense of humor! was amusing. But WAY too much work for Gen-ed

Awful, confusing professor. Completely contradictory, she'll say one thing one day and deny the fact she said it another. Claims she's open to student's opinions, but is anything but. The only teacher I dislike in the Women's Studies department, and the one member of the faculty I would dread to take a class with. AVOID HER.

This class was a joke, she didn't teach us anything we didn't already know. It had nothing to do with American History (except for two weeks on Blues music) and even then we spent more time discussing Ng's life history than learning the course material. Due dates changed constantly and at the end of the semester we didn't know what our grades were

She was such a poor teacher I still can't believe it. I went in expecting to learn about women and social change (the title of the class) and I learned NOTHING! She made us pick out 6 topics to learn about and barely even covered 1. I would never EVER take another class with her. And I got an A in the class. FUTURE STUDENTS BEWARE!!!!!

She was awful! she changed due dates, didn't hand things back, didn't give out rubrics so we had no idea what she wanted. She changed her requirements for long term assignments and talked more about her personal experience at "American Doll Store" more than about Women in History and Social Change.

Confusing, degrading, libelous because she discusses her students with other students. She starts off as nice and helpful but when she becomes overwhelmed her interactions with students change--directions that she gives to students change from day to day.

Excellent teacher! Personable, amusing, down-to-earth and friendly. Never gives any test. Quizes based on lectures, attendance mandatory. Papers are fair. Definately take any of her courses if you can.
