Comment:

I think he is one of the better professors in the CMPE department you can tell that he is extremely passionate about the subject. He cares for his students success and he is receptive to helping you during office hours. At the same time, he makes you work to pass his class. Learnt a lot from his class and I think he is a respectable professor.

Pretty Solid. Grades on Improvement. I got a D on the midterm and ended up with an A-. Do all the problems at the end of each chapter ! Go to his office hours and show that you're really trying in his class and he will bump your grade up by a letter- or two! Also, he has past exams released on google so do those!

Get the PDF of the book and try memorizing it. His lecture is basically reading his own book. The class is pretty boring but unfortunately you just have to take it anyway. Try as many timing diagrams as possible to get good grades on midterm and finals.

Pros Very good lectures . Conveys the content well .Well suited for students interested in Verilog,VLSI,Processor design. Cons Grading criteria is not very clear. Need to invest a lot of time on Verilog projects. Bad if you are not into this field.

I really like his lecture style since most of profs use slides without writing but he doesn't. I didn't study out of the class, but three quizzes, midterm and final were not so hard. If I studied hard, I might have got better grade. I will take his other classes again.

3 pop quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final. Good teacher but does not explain well. Talks about things and jumps into new concepts/diagrams without explaining what they are or what they do. Expects you to have much knowledge of CMPE prior. Textbook never used, only lecture/notes. Quizzes and exam themselvs are not that difficult but easy to fall behind/fail

If you are SE do not take 102 with Bindal. He talks as though you have taken multiple CMPE courses which makes it extremely hard to understand. I took the class early in my curriculum so everything he said continually went over my head. He had you memorize instruction manuals for PIC24 and draw diagrams of them. If one line is off you get 80% 2, 60

At first he seems intimidating, but he's a huge teddy bear. Really helpful. BUY HIS BOOK and GO TO CLASS. Take really good notes, his lectures are typically what end up on the Quizzes/Midterm/Final. Do his review problems in the book too, they're VERY helpful, if you can do those you can get an A no problem. Bindal is awesome!

Teaches you that is everything in the book that he makes you buy. Nothing is outside of his book scope. If u miss a single lecture u will loose lot of stuff. He is ok.

Avoid this guy! This is the worst professor I've ever had. Makes you memorize an instruction manual while other (better) teachers allow notes. He makes you do hard calculus problems out of nowhere, midterm average was 40%, nasty ego too.

Bindal is hands down a legendary lecturer. He makes sure you UNDERSTAND, not memorize, the material. However, his tests are tough. Study and pay attention and you'll do great.

The lectures are useful in preparing you for the midterms. Although the midterm and final are hard, he is very understanding and curves decently for the class. He tries his best to teach each concept. Overall, he's a very understanding teacher. Don't be intimidated by him, hes a very nice person.

Projects are important for the class, Professor provides all essential material for the exams, but in exams, expect the unexpected. Very good learning experience and fun to be in the class, classes with light mood.

He's a cool and funny guy. You have two exams with two questions each to determine your final grade in the class, so can't afford to make any mistakes. Prepare for labs as much as possible in advance; there's never enough time to finish them. Know his book inside and out for the labs and exams. An unbelievably difficult class. Work hard and study.

CMPE 102 was very straightforward. One MT, one project, one final. Exam questions are similar to practice problems in class. 2-3 person team project dealt with a PIC microcontroller. You propose your own project. To get full points on demo day, your project must (a) be an original idea (b) be your own work (c) fully work (d) have a written report.
