I took Prof Payne for 1010 and 2010 and was glad. He teaches you how to write well instead of figuring out what a introductory element is. His goal is to make you a strong writer! I studied hard and did well. The class is NOT a breeze but certainly worth the effort!

Allen Payne is the best teacher I have ever had, high school or college! He isn't an easy teacher by any means, but his class is extremely interesting and I learned more than I ever imagined. If you are willing to put in the time and participate in class he is willing to do anything he can to help you succeed.

I had Payne for English 2010 and Literature of the American West. If you want to learn how to write, he is the guy. He's an awesome professor, and person for that matter.

Best English teacher I ever had. I learned more in his class than I ever learned in high school. Good sense of humor and treats you as an adult human being. Lectures never boring and always pertinent to becoming a better writer! Great Guy!

So good. Way interesting. Incredibly smart. And for an old guy with no sense of style, he's pretty damn attractive. I could listen to his lectures all day.

Took in '02. The thing I enjoyed most was the selected readings he chose for our assignments, there were some great short stories and he brought up some good points to get us thinking. He also humorously reminded us to always have our "crap detectors" on- He didn't force ideas, I loved that approach
