I think I got a tumor because of the stress of her class but call me crazy because it was worth it. She taught me the acting aspect of opera and she put 100% effort to create a good production every semester. I am planning to take the class again.

I honestly don't know what to say about this teacher. I do not want to put her down, but I am going to be truthful. Every time I go to her class, I feel discouraged about my talent. She comments on things that aren't necessary. She is very mean sometimes, the only thing I can do is to pray for her to change.

She's Pretty big on favoritism. She knows what she's talking about, but she has her own weird(and sometimes hard-to-understand)way of explaining.She isnt open to all types of music learning though. Her teaching skills work better for the students who want to learn techniques for opera. But I sure did learn how to keep my notes longer.lol.

If you're one of her favorite students, then you'll do fine. Not very consistent and generally not very helpful. She is not a genuine teacher who cares about her students. Her actions are mostly for show, too artificial for music classes. She's not a good voice teacher for beginners. I think ELAC has a better program.

Professor Ketchum is a great teacher. She has a wealth of experience and she knows what she is talking about. She had two favorites in my class, which was sometimes hard to deal with since I wasn't one of them. But, honestly, that just made me work harder, and I'm better because of it. p.s. you really don't need the text..

There was a student in the class that she favored. I was ignored and even though I showed up to every class and asked questions I got a B. I got an A on my midterm, completed extra lab hours and turned in all the paperwork on time. She required we get a textbook that we never used.Take class at your own risk she will either LOVE you or IGNORE you.

She is an amazing person and amazing professor!! I don't know where I would be without her classes! She really does get you to do your best work and expects you to be a professional, which you should try to be if you want to make it in the business. Totally recommend taking her classes!!! You'll learn a lot when you listen and take in what is said!

She is an amazing teacher, better than those I've had in the past. She really tries to help you with your specific struggles in breathing and pitch during a song. I highly reccomend her.

This woman changed my life. She taught me how to hold my head up, how to allow myself to be treated, and how to respect myself. How by learning MY music, and showing up, I show respect for others. I still repeat what she once told me "The audience doesn't care if you are tired or had a hard day, they will still want their money back so get to work"

Fun class, but Mrs. Ketchum needs to be open to all students from all musical backgrounds and not favor her so called best students. Obviously If you are in Opera you are in her book otherwise goodluck, basically you are on her**** list till proven otherwise. Goodluck she's a stiff one!

I can't believe people complaining that they have to show up to class and learn their music. If you want to have a career, imagine not showing up, not learning your stuff and then expect to be paid!
