Sometimes part of his lectures didn't have anything to do with the class but they were still incredibly interesting. He is a very intelligent man. 3 essays to write and no grades based on weekly readings. I looked forward to every class. Dr. Holland is also very helpful and caring for his students. I recommend taking him for your english credit.

I don't know how he is in person, but his online myth class is tedious. It's a lot of obscure readings that I find inaccessible as someone who is only taking mythology as a requirement to graduate. The papers are hard to write (and this is coming from someone who writes for fun!) and the topics are difficult. He doesn't even have a syllabus.

Getting to listen to Dr. Holland's lectures is a real gift. He has a slight tendency to ramble, but the man is brilliant. He is also willing to talk to students after class, and he will look over a paper you are unsure about over and over again if you ask him about it decently before the deadline. Class expectations are clear. Favorite professor.

Dr. Holland's expectations are clear, but require in-depth reading and thoughtfulness. This class (Online Mythology) is made up of weekly reading (with discussion question submissions) and three papers. He can be a tough grader on the papers. It's incredibly important to edit your papers thoroughly before submission in his class.

Dr. Holland is lecture heavy, but you can get notes and ideas on what to write your papers from easily from his lectures. He goes off on a tangent sometimes, but overall he is a chill guy. The weekly reading questions allow for an easy grade. There are 2 essays and 1 short-essay midterm with prompts given. He definitely knows his stuff and is nice.

Great professor, very passionate about his subject. Lectures were generally interesting. Readings for every class, but you can get by without doing them. Weekly discussion posts (2 questions) on the week's readings, a first analytical paper, a midterm (4 questions, pick 2 & write 500 words on each) and a final paper of 1200 words.

Overall, I felt as if this class was a bit more like psychology rather than mythology. He is a very intelligent man, and at times could be interesting, but often he would get into very in-depth topics that were quite hard to keep up with. Pretty easy course, overall though. Lenient grader and gave good feedback.

I waited 3 years to take mythology & was quite disappointed. I felt like it was a psychology class more than mythology. There were only 3 papers, a presentation, & weekly questions you had to submit or it took an entire letter grade off your next paper. By the end of the semester I was unsure of my grade and essay topics were difficult to write on.

Dr. Holland was one of my favorite professors. He's a genius; the man has something to say about everything. You'll be exposed to incredible literature in his classes, and learn that literature from someone who loves it. In higher-level classes, he has as much fun learning and talking as the students do. Highly recommended.

dr. holland is a great professor, who shows genuine care for students' education. witty, intelligent man who goes above and beyond to help. as mentioned several times- he requires you try again on a C paper. he wants you to improve. ask questions and speak up, it makes the class even better. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Holland is a great professor. I found his ramblings to be rather amusing and looked forward to his class each week. He really wants to teach you to learn how to properly write a paper. He is lenient on due dates, and he will go above and beyond to help you. He will let you rewrite papers to improve your grade. Loved him!

Had as online class in the summer. We had to read 5 books and write 3 papers in 5wks , and if you make below a C- he let you rewrite them which is good but, this was a hard class im still not sure what he was expecting when writing a paper ofcourse theres going to be mistakes, but he expected perfection. Not sure if I would recommend him.

The texts were hard to follow, but I kept up. Not everyone is an Eng major. Also, the clarity of the papers would have been better summed up in parallels than rambling about writing a report. I took this class online, maybe that's the problem, but its not my first. I'm doing well, but I'm disappointed.

At first I hated this class. As time went on, the text became more interesting and it was hard to sit there for 3 hours but in the end I got a B so I suppose it was worth it.

I think he goes over the students' heads sometimes with his analysis, but the point is to inspire thought, which he does. Maintains a very laid back atmosphere, and is surprisingly lenient on deadlines. I'd recommend taking one class with him, but two might be a bit much.

Great Teacher. Best teacher I had this semester. Very interesting when talking about mythology, does sometimes wander when talking but still stays interesting. Willing to help you any way he can, just ask. Very interesting topic, learned a lot from him.
