I have taken several classes with Dr. Joes and his classes are most definitely the highlight of my undergrad studies. In Vietnam, he made astounding revelations in every class. War and Peace was full of rich information about war throughout history, and all of Dr. Joes' classes provide insights into the world of today.

I've taken Dr. Joes for Craft of Intelligence, War and Peace, Internal War, and his freshman seminar. He is by far the most intelligent, helpful, and interesting professor in the school of Arts and Sciences. His classes are very relevant for today's world, and he makes marvelous revelations about the worlds of counterinsurgency and intelligence.

Best teacher i've ever had. I've taken four of his classes and they were all great. You learn a lot about countries, history, and regions, but also on how media, people and bias can or have altered history and outcomes. You truly appreciate how different the world would be if one or two events had turned out differently in the past

I have taken pretty much all of Dr. Joes' classes and they have all been great. He knows what he is talking about and makes lectures and material relevant and interesting. I highly recommend taking not just one but as many classes as possible. If you are lazy, and are looking for an easy A I would stay away though. Otherwise TAKE!!!!

Dr. Joes is by far the best professor I had in my 4 years at SJU. I was not a Political Science major, and he inspired and challenged me to be a better student.I took 4 upper level classes with him and if you do the reading, participate, andgo to class,you will have no problem. If you want the full SJU experience,you must take legendary Dr. Joes!

He's alright...be sure to go all out on the comission report and do not read from anything. He plays favorites...BIG TIME. If you're not a poli-sci major get ready for an uphill battle in winning him over. The material for the class was really lacking and seemed repetitive. I was a bit dissapointed especially after seeing his rating on here.

Dr. Joes is by far the best poli-sci prof. He is the only prof who actually defends his views, and conveys them to make sense to his students. Most classes are mid-term+final and a paper/commission. Expect 2-3 books per class, expect to read them all. Take good notes and you're set though. DR JOES IS FREAKING AMAZING! TAKE HIM IF POLI-SCI/IR MAJOR!

I LOVE HIM. Instead of pretending to respect people's opinions, he actually does. Work is demanded of you, but he will make the topics so relevant and interesting that you won't mind. Your entire template for thinking about world events and why they happen will be changed if you take him, and certainly for the better. LONG LIVE JOES!!!!!!

Aw, poor kids can't take his sarcastic comments? He tells you what he thinks. Lots of in depth reading, but it is well worth it. I always looked forward to an entertaining class period and his stories about Russia. Can get off track and go on. Very intelligent man and he knows his stuff.
