Honestly I think these other reviews are too harsh. Laila's instructions can be confusing at times but if you ask for clarification or even past examples, she's happy to help. Her grading has been fair if not easy so far. You don't really need to do the reading. She's super knowledgeable on the subject and is a really engaging lecturer.

Dr. Farah is incredible! I had her for Women in Chicago and the class itself was awesome, with frequent trips to see performances as well as good discussions in class. There are weekly readings, but they're not too long and usually enjoyable. Would definitely take another class with her just because she's such a cool person!

Took her for Women in Chicago Theatre and it was one of the highlights of my week. The lectures were more conversations were very intriguing and showed a different perspective on the world that we currently live in. She made sure that everyone felt accepted in her classroom. She is a fantastic professor and an intelligent feminist.

I REALLY regret taking her course. She never went thru the syllabus & is SO unclear about hw instructions. Then she grades however she sees fit, not according to her guidelines she previously gave. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. Do yourself a huge favor & take it with any other prof! If it wasn't too late, I'd drop it. She is nice but an inadequate prof

I took "Women in Chicago Theatre" for my Chicago Quarter requirement with Dr. Farah. She wasn't there most of the time. When she was there, we had insightful lectures and discussions about feminism. I always kind of felt like I could say the wrong thing at any given moment because of the subject and her knowledge of it, but feedback was good.

She's very passionate, as well as intelligent. BUT take note that she is extremely opinionated and does not hesitate to make somewhat offensive comments. She is also very disorganized. You will definitely learn a lot, but there will be a lot of frustration because of her lack of professionalism.

Very informative but yes, disorganized. And she demands prompt attendance even though she was at least 10 minutes late for nearly every class. Lots of wasted time. But I did learn a lot.

She is incredibly interesting when she lectures. That said, she is somewhat ambiguous in instructions, took a while to get assignments back so we didn't know if we were doing what she wanted. Overall, a fairly difficult class.

Ms. Farah is one of the smartest, sassiest and inspirational women I've ever met. The class is pretty demanding, but she does not assign busy work. It's a lot of reading, but it's all very interesting if you are interested in women's transnational issues and/or know nothing about them but want to, I would take any class that she teaches.

Laila is sassy and brilliant. She is an amazing performer, too. Mind-opening though periodically disorganized due to being involved in everything. She is extremely passionate and funny and I enjoyed her class immensely. Inspiring lady and occasionally intimidating.

2nd mandatory class w/ her, same experience...cool, down to earth..her personality, however, is the best thing about the class. she was annoyingly unorganized. didn't explain where we would find the readings, which was an issue with the huge course pack-that lacked a table of contents-and 3 books, GIVES SILLY BUSY WORK, anal about attendance.

I've had Laila for a number of classes and she is an extremely talented scholar. It's not that she isn't willing to hear opinions that differ from her own, she is just simply intolerant of ignorance comments. I can't believe I'm the first to give her a hot point.

She was not there for the first few weeks of class and when she got there she was very disorganized. Content was too intense for a 100 level FYP class and there was A LOT of readings assigned. She is very passionate and youll learn something if you take her but youll be in the dark half the time.
