Comment:

One of the absolute worst teachers I've ever had the displeasure of taking a course with. He enjoys talking about himself, calling students out for mistakes in front of the class and giving tests that cover ZERO percent of what his "lectures" are even about. Choose another instructor, don't waste your time with this guy.

Took this class in Spring 2011, I'm finally writing a review. WORST TEACHER I HAVE DEALT WITH AT MPC. 1) Doesn't follow syllabus at all! Takes tests a week before they are scheduled claims you should be prepared anyway. Doesn't give 2nd chances to online tests that don't work properly and shut down while you're taking them and Im out of characters

This dude. What is this I don't even. He gives useless lectures on things that aren't on the test, and doesn't really know how to set up his own online course. You learn more about him than you do the lessons. And he's rather fond of calling on his students as examples, which can get really very "TMI". Often gives false or outdated information.

He is useless, he stood in front of the class holding his hair back for the majority of the time while talking about himself. I don't believe anyone received an A in my class that semester so i hope you only take him if his class is required.

Funny guy, has very interesting stories to tell. You do have to pay for online access codes to take quizzes. The material he goes over in class IS on the test, but it's more of a framework of the topics rather than a lot of detail. You depend more on the online quizzes and the take-home test for exams.

So boring. Lecture every class period that has no relevance to exams. A lot of busy work - 3 exams, and a final (optional), weekly online quizzes, 3 practice exams, and a paper. Not helpful, and treats you like a child. Do not take unless you are required.

Don't take this teacher unless you want to spend your time challenging test questions, material not covered in lectures. He is chatty (about himself) and appears approachable, however clearly thinks he belongs on a UC campus. Passive-aggressive, he delights in making sure no one gets an A. He is tenured of course.

What a boring teacher and was useless in helping understanding the material. When I mentioned to him that the test was hard he said good and alot of what was on the test wasn't in the book. Don't take this teacher unless you can succeed by just reading the book.

ALOT of internet work! you have to pay for the class, book, and the online course work! if you dont, you will fail. Teacher goes off on personal tangents constantly, doesnt cover what is on the test, just read the book

the class itself was boring. everything was based on lectures and powerpoints. Everything covered in class never seemed to appear on the test, and he wasnt very helpful when it came to explaining certain things such as the psychlabs he requires. which reflects upon your grade.

Hobbs was a cool guy, but not the best teacher. His class was boring and most of the work expected and material learned wasn't even mentioned in class. There were a few occasions when information on the tests hadn't even been covered in class. It was too much stress to be tested on 3 chapters of work not mentioned in class.

Hobbs was a pretty cool teacher and his class was pretty easy. All of the tests and quizzes are on scantron and he has powerpoints but you'll have to read the book too because he doesn't cover everything in the slideshows.

Very sweet, genuine man, but he does have to grow on you. He can be understanding and will work with you, but can also be a bit of a snooze. Flatter him with your laughter. Read your material and do the reviews at the end of the chapter and you should do fine on the exams.

I took this as a"living room" class and didn't have to show up except for tests. There was a lot of reading, but the exams were all multiple choice. If you were satisfied with your grade you didn't need to take the final which was pretty cool.

most of the classes are power point lectures and they can be a bit monotonous at first, but if you're interested, this is a great class! he is funny and very willing to answer any questions. pay attention in class and the quizzes will be easy

Most of class is lectures. He is very willing to answer questions on lecture matierial and will elaborate if needed. Open note quizzes. 3 exams in the semester. Optional final. Easy grading scale (A is 85%, other grades are all 10% intervals)

A genuine interest in the material is necessary to appreciate Hobbs. He's funny, he's clear, and he's helpful, but the course contains a good deal of complicated information and he can do little more than he does to simplify it. The tests and quizzes are multiple choice and very easy, if one has read the material and paid attention.
