Reading these reviews he sounds awful. Taking his class was awesome! His practice tests on blackboard ARE THE SAME QUESTIONS as on the real test, he just puts different numbers. I wanted to take another class from him, but he's not doing the one I need next. Work hard, and study and you will do fine. He also helps during office hours.

Prof Maynard is a very nice guy, and he is also very clearly A GENIUS, but I don't think he is able to teach at a lower level math. He tends to go off into "what you'll learn when you get to differential equations..." Just not very good at dumbing himself down to explain for PreCalc level class. Would only recommend him if you're already a wiz.....

Mr. Maynard?s weaknesses are so stark it is not relevant to address his strengths, even if he has any. He uses pointed, inappropriate humor throughout his class which are rarely related to class discussions and, often, quite cruel and mean-spirited. His desire to share his political innuendo overshadows his ability to teach the class effectively.

HW 5%, Final 15%, Tests 80%. His tests are from multiple chapters, and only 20 questions long, and are multiple choice. He gives a ton of hw. He doesn't care if you understand the concept. I was absent 1 day & he made me look like a fool for not understanding what i missed.My friend and I had to learn from tutors.I'm an A student, & nearly failed.

Professor Maynard is by far the worst math teacher I have ever had. You should not take this class without buying the solution manual, because it is the only way to learn anything, as he does not teach but only explains theory. Make sure you have about 2 hours per section to copy this for a whopping 5% hmwk grade on a scale that does not make sense

He may be good at teaching lower level math, but is terrible at teaching calculus. Changes notes mid class, can't solve his own sample test problems, forced to down grade calculator to TI-30, doesn't drop lowest test grade. Overall, he doesn't have an understanding of math necessary to teach it. Also, his jokes only burn class time.DO NOT TAKE!!

Works out any problems you have on homework for the first part of classes which can take up most of the class. He likes to prove equations in the book. This class itself is not easy. However, his sample tests will save you. Calc III is meant to be a weed-out course.

you better teach yourself. I loved math for entire of my life and only time I hate it was in this class. prefer to teach yourself and have fun with your textbook, it helps you more than he does.

Great teacher. Knowledgeable and very willing to put in the extra mile to teach you something you don't understand. If you don't pass, it's your fault. Has very witty humor and takes interest in the lives of his students.

Mr Maynard is a great teacher. his multiple choice test are easy. the sample tests really help you on the regular test. Its the same kind of problems just the numbers changed around. He makes joke alot most are corny but some funny. I thinks its a very easy class.

Mr. Maynard is a very nice man, extremely helpful if you need it. He really cares about his students. A little unclear at times, but as long as you show the initiative, he'll be glad to help. A lot of homework, but that's normal. Tests are multiple choice, so can be easy of hard depending. Talks a lot and gets off subject at times.

Be prepared to go to the math lab if you take this class because he goes through chapters faster than he can teach them. He's a nice guy, but has very hard tests! The only hope of passing a test is to do his practice tests.

Mr. Maynard is a pretty cool teacher. When he teaches something new; I think he shows you the hardest way there is in the book. His tests are much harder than the Homework but he gives you a test re-view and they help a lot.

Sucked....very hard test, all test are multiple choice 20 questions, worst teacher ive taken....just bring your ipod and listen to that the whole class because if you choose to take him, your chances of passing are slim, in less you like MULTIPLE CHOICE MATH TEST....

Excellent teacher! Had him for Mth 3; first mth class in a long time. Felt he explains topics clearly and thoroughly/ Is reasonably entertaining/ Extremely willing to work with every student who has problems or questions about the material. Homework is about 15-20 problems a night. Tests based off of similar practice tests provided on his webpage.

Maynard isn't hard his tests are. His tests are specifically designed to test your thorough knowledge of all the chapters. I got a C in this class but I feel like a better student because his tests show you your weaknesses in the material. If you want a cakewalk avoid this class. If you want to be a better mathematician, take this class.
