he requires too much work for this elective class. The 1-2 quizzes every week, plus 2-3 hours long lab assignments are really overwhelming, and I'm not surprised that not too many people did bad. He doesn't prepare the students too well for the exams and when over half of the class fails, he doesn't curve the grades or seem to even care...

He gives soooo much work, more work than all 4 of my other classes put together, and this is an elective! Most people in class are failing. 40% have F's, 20% have D's, 22% have C's, 10% have B's and the rest have As. i got this info from the graph he showed us when he was telling us how poorly we are doing. dont take unless u really love rocks.

Bud is a really nice guy, and knows his subject extremely well. He gives weekly quizzes rather than tests and lets you make corrections to bump it up a letter grade if you need. You will have to study, and there are a lot of labs. So it's not an easy A. But you will get a lot out of this class. And Bud is very helpful.

The Oceanography class consists of lots of hard work and tests are in short-answer format. It definitely takes a lot of hard work to get a good grade in this class. However, he tried to make it easy for students at the end by giving extra credit questions on the Final. Overall, hard work but very nice teacher who is very passionate abou the subject

If you're looking for an easy A, don't take this course. Classes are very informative, and he tries to keep them interesting. You can redo quizzes, but there's a lot of work/time involved.

Bud is such a great guy. I had to take a Science general Ed class, and I took his Geoscience 020 class, all about geology. I didn't plan on enjoying the class, but he makes it so interesting! No exams, just (if you pay attention in class) easy tests. He is really easy going, and is very passionate about his subject. Would definitely recommend.

great teacher. i had a global warming class, very interesting. very eye opening class. could have done much better had i looked at the notes a little more for the quizzes and done better on the lab reports. ended up with a C+. should have been an easy A.

This class was supposed to be an easy general ed. class but it wasn't! He expects you to treat his class like it is a 400 level class. It was to time consuming. I mean hes a nice guy, but I wouldn't take earth again!

Really nice guy, and he has a passion for the subject. Gives 3-4 question quizzes throughout the semester - no exams. Lets you make up bad quizzes. No textbook! The material can get a bit annoying & boring, but overall it's not a time consuming class.

He's a pretty good teacher. The class is interesting but after a while it gets boring. There are no exams given. Grades will be based on quizzes given weekly and sometimes every other week. If you choose to take up this class my advice for you is to go to his lectures and take notes. Don't waste your time printing out slides that he will just be reading off of.

Bud is a great guy. in Geosci, the quizzes every week are not easy, but if you correct it and go in to meet with him he bumps you up and you wind up making out okay. No tests. no finals, or midterm. there are group lab reports, which count as multiple quiz grades. easy to do well if you start off the right way, Bud is brilliant, possible stoner?

The field trip isn't boring for those interested in the subject, I thought it was cool. The quizzes are pretty hard, but like everyone else said, you can re-do them.
