Comment:

Professor Schultes explains things very thoroughly. She knows nobody actually cares about math in this class and shes a saint for how patient she is. The class is mind numbing but if you pay even a little attention and turn in the assignments youll pass easily. There are papers which is weird for a math class but great for an English major.

Comment:

Dr. Schultes makes this class super easy. The lectures can be boring, but she goes over the exact answers that will be on the (almost daily) quizzes and tests. Like, over and over again. If you didn't get an A in this class you didn't try at all. I am by no means a math-minded person but this class was ridiculously easy. A few videos, papers.

I'm literally dying and the semester isn't even over yet. I'm horrible at math but I do not recommend liberal arts math for ANYONE. Schultes is nice and the class isn't too difficult but calc or stats is way easier. My gpa is about to go from 3.8 to -3.8 and I am NOT feeling it. Only regret of my life is not taking a different math gen ed.

Stay away from her class. She's a nice lady, but this class is the most boring I've ever taken and the workload is VERY HEAVY. She grades papers as if you're in a 400 level Literature class, and nit-picks at every darn detail. Test are easy, but only a small portion of you're grade and there's a quiz every class.

I have never been so bored in my life. Her grading system makes absolutely no sense also, she requires you to write several essays about math.I would not recommend taking her class

Comment:

Carla Schultes is a good teacher, but she tends to stare off in space if there are no questions. Overall, I liked her as a teacher. She basically reviews every quiz and test before you take it and the tests are the quizes stapled together. The class is incredibly easy and if you fail, you just didn't try. The material is too easy not to understand.

SOOOOOO BORING!! I am horrible at math and she makes me hate it. The material covered is not that difficult but she always seems out of it when she teaches and she is very unclear. She is hard grader also. Nothing against her because she is a nice woman, she just isn't my type of teacher.

Knows her stuff but cannot teach very clearly. Mumbles a lot and always seems out of it. It doesn't help that she is only a part time professor. Avoid her class if possible.

I hate math and I'm not good at it but Schultes does a really good job of making sure everyone understands the concepts. There is a one or two question quiz each class on the material covered the week before so that can be a pain but they're not hard as long as you were in class. You can tell she's actually interested in math too.

While math definitely isn't my thing, Schultes is amazing! She uses concrete scenarios to explain abstract concepts and is always willing to re-go over concepts students are having difficulty with. If you go to class and engage in the discussion, you will have no problems! She made me actually enjoy math! TAKE HER!

Excellent teacher. Works well with the students in order for them to achieve their goals - even if its just to get a Gen Ed credit. She is an awesome math teacher and made learning math fun. Highly recommend her to folks that are NOT math inclined.

Math 190 with her was a breeze, she makes the easy super easy. Before each test we have a review day were she basically tells us the answers to all the problems. This class is far from your sterotypical math class, this class is more about the study of beauty in mathamatics. She's a very nice lady so I would definately recommend her.I got an 99% A+

Some people on here have said she was horrible. I thought she was amazingly wonderful. She is very clear about topics, if you need help you can email her or find her during office hours. Also, homework is reviewed during the beginning of next class so that is great! For people who really aren't math people, this class is fantastic!

I hate math but managed to get a B in this class. She is very helpful and ask every class if you have questions about the homework which is always the previous material learned. There is one group project but she will help if you ask. Overall great class for non math majors! Easy A

I recommend this class for anyone who needs a gen ed math class. After several years of avoiding math after failing it at my old college, I took this class, and I got a C. Yes, it was hard, and she wasn't around much to talk to, but she does drop several low homework/quiz grades, and I think she does want to see us succeed in the class. If I can pass math, anyone can, and this is the class to take!

She is a little querky but really knows her stuff. She is a little shady and busy with her office hours being only around 15 min a week, but will correspond through emails. She makes it really difficult to not do well. Definately take her class if you are not very strong in math.

If you need help outside of class you need a tutor bc she is never around. Im convinced she is drinking during class, or is on some kind of pain meds. She's cool, a little eccentric but if you come to class it's easy.
