i did not like this class at all. i took it cause i really wanted to go into marine biology but he has made me lose interest. he read of vides the entire time and if you asked him a question he would tell you to look it up. however his notes are available on yt so you can look at them ahead of time. offers a lot of extra credit but on random things

Comment:

Literally the worst professor i have ever had. He doesnt even teach. He sits down and lectures of a videos with only pictures and hardly any words. When you ask him a question he tells you to look at the syllabus. You look at it and it doesnt even answer your question. He needs to retire. The content isnt even hard he just sucks as a teacher.

Mr. Lyle is a great professor! I took oceanography 111 and 112 with him. He cares about his students and will help you out with your grades. He offers extra credit- one assignment will add a whole point to your final grade. He let us use notes on the tests, so definitely keep them. His class is pretty enjoyable and he has a good sense of humor.

I loved Professor Lyle, I took him twice. He lets you use notes on test so make sure to take his notes theyre all on blackboard and on YouTube. He was the best professor I look.

Mr. Lyle is a very caring teacher. He will do anything he can to help you learn and pass his class. His lectures are very easy as well as his labs. There should be no reason to fail his class as long as you show up and put in the effort. He also gives up to 5 extra credit papers that you can do for part of your lecture grade and they are very easy.

When I first took Mr Lyle I thought the class was incredibly hard and the test were confusing. However, as the semester went on I learned Mr Lyle will do anything to help you get an A. I ended up taking him again receiving an A both times. If you put the work in, Mr Lyle will do anything to help; he cares about his students like they are his own.

This department could use some work. Lyle lectures off of youtube videos he's published and assigns busy work papers. Tests don't even make sense half the time, because they are pre-made who knows how many years ago and therefore we don't even cover most of what's on them. Grading criteria is all over the place. Don't take unless you have to!

I would not recommend for lab or lecture. He seems like he expects his students to already know the material before signing up for class. He had students watch youtube lectures he made prior to class along with PPTs. It felt more like a hybrid class cuz his lectures were students asking qs about his online mat. I switched to Dr Barton, much better

Mr. Lyle's mind is into his subject but his heart is not. He sits up at his podium through all of class reading off of power points that it sounds like he himself just read five minutes prior to speaking. The information taught in the class was basically a geology course considering all the things i learned about rocks.

Great professor, motivated to help you really learn. If you are looking to skate by with little effort, drop out of school, go find a low paying menial job. If you want to learn Science and how to think for college take his class. It's not hard, but it's not easy. Do the work and you'll pass this class with flying colors.

Lyle is a great professor if you really don't care about Oceanography. If you put in an effort he wont fail you. I failed every test that semester and he passed me with a C because i tried really hard.

He is really great, he never takes attendance and says "He knows who is present and who is not." Shows videos and goes off of powerpoints. Already has study guides and vocab words posted to his blackboard. Tests are a little on the harder side but manageable. If you do the work (normal experiments) he allows 5 points to your final grade.

Mr. Lyle knows a lot but remains humble. He has patience with all his students and enjoys teaching them about the nature of the world. He can also be quite humorous, which is great for any classroom. Test questions can sometimes come from left field - do study. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Good class all around.

Mr. Lyle was an ok teacher. Honestly, you barely have to pay attention. Just study the list of vocab. he gives you and you'll pass no problem. He likes Google Earth and Youtube a lot. He teaches off of powerpoints that go along with the book. a very easy class. He doesn't even take attendance. "woah, look at that! Animation" "that's so zen."

I've never been more afraid of losing my 4.0 than in this class. I still don't know how I pulled out an A - probably the extra credit. The whole class was relieved when we got a sub teacher for two weeks--she was so much better and our grades shot up. Don't take this guy unless you enjoy watching someone surf youtube and fly around on GoogleEarth.
