Comment:
Dr. Harrison is obviously intelligent when it comes to the French Revolution. However, she expects perfection in almost every essay/precis. She is a VERY strict grader. You could spend lots of time on one assignment and still expect a low grade. If you do not have to take one of her classes, I highly recommend you do not.

I enjoyed her lectures, but the exams were hard. If you participate in discussion section, do the discussion posts every week, and read the textbook as well as the weekly readings, there is no reason you won't pass. Attendance isn't mandatory for lectures but I recommend going to get good notes.

I absolutely LOVE Professor Harrison! Although attendance isn't mandatory you will probably not pass without lecture notes! Exams are typically free response and there are 3 a semester so make sure to take detailed notes in class and attend the study sessions every week. But if you do your discussion posts and take notes you will pass!

Comment:
Current sophomore double majoring in history and political science so I'm definitely used to writing history papers. However, prof. Harrison expects a pristine doctoral thesis each essay no matter the length. This is the only class I have ever had to recover from a D. She assigns a literal book to read each week. If possible, avoid at all costs.

Professor Harrison is very knowledgeable and really cares about her students and the material. She can be a tough grader but only because she is doing her job well. Very caring and helpful, and I learned a lot from her lectures and the class as a whole.

I used to hate history classes, but Professor Harrison made me LOVE history. All of her lectures are so interesting and you learn so much. I recommend taking notes on laptop & writing almost everything she says. The test are definitely hard, but if you learn what she asks you to learn youll be good. I failed the 1st test, but got an A on the last

Lectures were interesting and Dr. Harrison is extremely knowledgable on the topic but assignments I feel were graded too hard. As a history major who has taken many courses of this level and typically receives good grades on most papers I don't understand why my writing was not up to par with her criteria. Lots of writing and reading assignments.

Unless your printer or pencils can create gold don't take her classes. You'll put everything you have one a paper and get the lowest grade. You'll think you understand what she's asking for but turns out its the opposite. She is smart and knows a lot but relies too heavily on writing- including her tests.

If you are not a history major DO NOT take this class. This class is easily on par with my business major classes, maybe even harder. She grades everything extremely tough, and her TA's follow the same difficult grading guidelines. From student to student, I am telling you do not take this class. Extremely difficult to get above a C.

I idolize Dr. Harrison, she is so intelligent and eloquent. She will teach you so much and make you a better reader and writer. She gives so much feedback, really cares about your success, and delivers great lectures. I learned so much in every single class and appreciate her more than any other professor I've ever had.

Tough but I loved her last semester. She turned what I thought would be an incredibly boring subject into something I now have numerous thoughts and opinions on. She's tough though and if you have an aversion to hard work, you should probably avoid her.

she clearly interested in her subject but unless history is your major do NOT take this class expecting an easy elective. if u have test anxiety when it comes to written tests RUN. everything is written, no multiple choice or fill in the blank. she gives a single word and u have to know what she's looking for with no study guide, tests are agony

I absolutely love Dr. Harrison. From the first day of class until the last, she seems incredibly interested in the subject she is teaching. The readings are all wonderful reads. I would honestly suggest to any and everyone to take her. There's a decent amount of work but it's completely reasonable for a 300 level course.

Dr. Harrison was an excellent professor, and although the lectures were long, she almost always let us out early. She was very knowledgeable on the subject, and was willing to help outside class. If you have the opportunity, take her, even if you aren't interested in the subject. She made the information interesting and gave study guides for tests.

OK unless ur a history major DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. it is WAY to hard for an elective. Quizzes every week that are and TONS of readings. All Tests and quizzes are written answer. So no chance of just guess if ur not sure on something. Tbh every quoz sends me into a panic attack and I wish I had dropped the class when I had the chance

She's a great lecturer and it's easy to pay attention. Attendance wasn't mandatory for lectures but she doesn't put the notes up online. Discussion sections were extremely boring, led by the T.A.s who didn't seem to understand the material any more than the students. She grades VERY tough regardless of course level. Expects 9 paragraphs per exam.

Dr. Harrison is an awesome lecturer and is very good at keeping everyone involved. You have to read a lot and she's a really tough essay grader, but if you ask her to look at your paper she will. I liked her so much that I'm taking another one of her classes.
