Overall a decent professor and nice guy, but I learned more from watching Bob Ross and youtube videos than I did from him.

I hate art. The grading's fair and the prof is funny and jokes around a lot, but it can get extremely boring if you have to sit there for two hours while listening to his random music. Bring an iPod!!

He can come across as gruff, but it's just his sense of humor. He's probably the most knowledgeable art teacher AU has. If you don't understand something, he'll keep helping you until you do.

Opinionated, and not generally in your favor. If you are an art major, you are generally unlucky and will have to take him at sometime. Changes his mind (or forgets) frequently.

As a student I enjoyed Caldemeyer's classes. But as an alumni...I was very disappointed by his lack of assistance. I approached him with a real world problem I was having and he basically told me that he was too busy to answer my question. I later discovered that the reason he was too busy was he was trying to become chair of the department. After my disappointing experience with him post graduation I will be sure not to send the art department any money while he is chair of the department.

Charles Caldemeyer was initially my least favorite professor, who over the course of four years became my favorite professor. As in the entire school. He pushes you, but you learn. Just don't give him crap. It'll get thrown right back at you.

Caldemeyer know what he's talking about and can sometimes confuse his students. However, he is very friendly and concerned with how his students are doing. Very, very helpful, compassionate prof. Great advisor also ! His standards are very high and you definitely have to work hard if you want an A!

Caldemeyer grades according to personal preference (if you did it his way) rather than the studen't ability, improvement and vision. He's unhelpful when it comes to helping students and is a discouragement to artists. Avoid his class if you can avoid it.

Drawing I. For being a level 100 class he made it very VERY difficult. He wanted everybody to draw alike. I would not reccomend him. I used to like to draw but after this class really didnt feel i could. So dont take him for this class.
