Dr. Yost is hilarious and has an interesting approach to both teaching and grading. If you take good notes and try on the presentation you will receive a great grade! His marking scheme takes some getting used to, but overall this class really opened my eyes and I enjoyed going to class! I would recommend this class to anyone.

BIOL 223 is a VERY easy class whether your a bio major or not. the test are all open book (including the final), and there is a group project that's not too awful. he barely writes anything on the board so you have to write down what he says to have good notes to take into the test. easy 80-90%, great no-stress grade booster

Best professor I've had thus far. He takes meaningful, complex concepts and makes them seem simple. If you like leaving a class feeling as if you've learned something useful this is the class for you. His notes are so easy to follow and incredibly interesting. I still refer to class notes when I talk to people about GMOs and vaccinations.

Yost was incredibly interesting, I learnt a lot in biol223 and enjoyed almost all of his lecture material. His tests are straight forward for the most part. It is mandatory to show up, be an active listener and take good notes in order to do well, but Yost makes this easy with his captivating lectures!

Fun class! His lecture style is fun, open book midterm and final plus a group project. No textbook or lab. Show up, take good notes, and participate in class conversation, and you'll learn a lot.

Before coming to this class I thought the content would be so dull considering the class course is called 'microbes in society,' alas with the fundamental lectures that Yost has provided I have learned so much! If you come to class with an open mind and are willing to learn you are guaranteed a +75%, great guy, amazing prof!

If you want to learn something, take a class from Yost. If you want to not use your brain, get out of University. You'll be challenged on tests, that's what they are for. He genuinely wants you to do well and will help you if you're putting in a legitimate effort and still struggling. Textbook is interesting, but not essential to success.

His microbes and society class is probably the best class I have ever taken because its real world stuff to know. He is practical and knowledgeable. He honestly wants to make sure you learn something from his class. He has a pretty interesting sense of humor. Don't expect to sleep through his classes.

The lectures were very enlightening, but his online notes were unstructured. You have to guess what level of detail Yost requires on the exam, but rely heavily on class notes. Do the sample exam questions and email them. DISCUSS your progress in class and STUDY HARD. Although I'd change his teaching style, I really enjoyed the class. Micro rules!

no textbook. Lab was a huge commitment. Yost is super passionate, and will give sample questions before the exam. If you answer them and send to him he will mark them for you and a few will end up on the midterm. Bit disorganized but very engaging... great class but a huge time commitment.

Good guy and extremely passionate about biology and microbes, but does not express course material well in class and always seems irritated if you see him outside of class. Says he wants everyone to get a 90 and does give some example questions but overall a hard marker and extremely disorganized in his teaching. Wouldn't recommend him.

A very engaging prof, but his lectures lack structure. It is essential to go over your notes and through his online notes to clarify the order and topics of his lectures. He is a very inspirational prof- he could make anyone adore and appreciate biology

Love Dr. Yost. He expects a lot but I found that it motivated me to be a better student and his assignments are practical for what Bio majors will actually do in the future. Plus his enthusiasm is infectious and I found myself hanging to every word he said. I highly recommend Dr. Yost.

Awesome proff for Food micro. he has a way of connecting all the material he teaches to some fundamental concepts. It can be hard to take notes but if you actually listen in the class it is fairly easy to remember everything.

I would not reccomend this prof. He seemed cool in class, but outside he is a COMPLETELY different guy. Makes you feel like a complete inconvenience. I saw him in Superstore too, and said hi and he just walked by real quick with a slight 'hi'. And he surely knew who I was. Not a big fan of Chris Yost. Tough marker too. Maybe got a little sand in hi
