One of the greatest profs at York, very caring and available for office hours and help if you need it. Hes also very passionate when teaching and will really open your eyes up to the world of philosophy and reasoning. Overall, amazing person and highly recommend you take it with him!

Keen on attendance. Occasionally gives ample time to do homework before lecture ends. Clear on assignments and test instructions, but slightly disorganized on lecture slides He recognizes when students put in effort Overall, very good prof. Tries and does a good job at making sure lectures arent dreading to be in.

Overall a good prof. Lectures could be a little dry sometimes but he always ended class early. Only buy the With Good Reason textbook as he doesn't use the other one. Group projects are dependent on your group but he rewards people that do more work better grades. An A is very achievable if you show up and do all the work.

Wasn't really interested in philosophy or reasoning and only took this course for credit, but he has completely changed my outlook on things I initially didn't care for. such a great prof, highly recommend!!!

Jai was a great professor. I was a bit weary going into his class based on the other reviews on here. Attendance was mandatory, he was organized and his grading criteria for the essays are clear and straight to the point. Highly recommend.

I took Jai's class last semester and I can vouch, he's one of the few Prof who opens his class for questions and answers, so I disagree with some of the comments below. He rewards you with an A for hard work and excellent attendance. If someone skips class and asked the same redundant questions, he may Express impatience with you. He's great Prof.

Hes rude to his students. Dont bother asking questions because he wont answer it regardless and only make you feel dumb for asking. Shouldnt have been a difficult class and the assignments were fairly easy but the explanation of the assignments were all over the place and majority of the class was confused with what to do. Pick another prof

I admired his passion for Critical Thinking/Philosophy. He brings his training from philosophy and linguistics and taught us how to Reason using the tools from both disciplines. Although he does refer to you by your name, he can be very staunch and appeared to be haughty at times. Then again, he gives you respect if its deserving. A Well read man

Jai is the most unorganized prof I've ever encountered. He is very rude to his students and will make u feel embarrassed in front of the whole class for asking a question. He is very unclear about content and confuses students more than teaches them. Majority of the students in my class said the same thing about him. Easy assignments, tough marking

Jai is a great Prof, being a Biology major his Modes course allowed me to think outside the box. Heavy emphasis on argumentation and conceptual analysis. His course taught me to think of different conceptual structures and how the questions we have are a result of the assumptions we made within the conceptual structure we are embedded in. Great!

Not sure if he didn't like my class but he really taught terribly. He wasn't clear on anything and his notes on moodle were a disaster at best. He assigns groups and you can't switch out. One group started with 7 students and 4 dropped the course and he still made the others present. You'll have to work for an A but its doable

Jai is a good prof and goes over course material well. don't know if it was him or the course in general, but it was more of studying fallacies rather than discussing social issues... he also likes group work as 2 assignments are done in groups. weekly homework is given during class and is submitted for grading so attendance is important!

Professor Chetram is a good professor and teaches very well. He gives assignments at the end of each class, and it's super EASY, graded pass or fail for submitting. Participation matters and beware of the group you do the first assignment with because you will be stuck with them throughout the semester.

Lectures are easy to follow, but if you miss a class, his format on moodle is horrible - unorganized notes, unorganized everything. He's very good at going into detail, and explains his slides thoroughly during lecture. Overall the course was an easy A and the prof is alright

Personally I disliked Modes or Reasoning which may impact my review. That said, professor Chetram was a very good lecturer who was able to explain difficult materials clearly. His marking was tough but fair. I feel as though I would have enjoyed taking a higher level course with him instead. I sometimes felt like we were treated like highschoolers.

Prof. Chetram is fair, considerate and extremely knowledgeable. His lectures are interactive, with group works and presentations. I recommend you do not miss lectures or you will fall behind. My favourite example Prof used was the question is abortion murder? This provoked thinking , analysis and coming to a conclusion. I recommend his course.

Great Prof! Attend all his lectures and everything will make sense, make sure to take notes as he speaks. During presentations he may ask a lot of questions, but nothing out of the ordinary so as long as you're prepared you should be fine. I for one am very uncomfortable when it comes to presentations but I ended with 90s on both.

Took a full year summer course, received an A+ for going to class (on time), participating in lectures and asking questions (it's a small class so make the most of it) - content is interesting! Moodle is unorganised and it's your responsibility to do the readings for each class. If you want a good grade & you're a good student, highly recommend!
