I've taken two classes with Prof. McLean, and I thoroughly enjoyed both. Her choices in literature are thought provoking and fun to read and the discussions in class are interesting. She generally assigns a group project, two essays, and a few analysis focused paragraphs. The final is cumulative but basically created by the class. Awesome teacher.

I took Professor McLean's US women's literature class and was blown away on an almost daily basis by the quality of the material we read and the depth of the themes we explored. McLean's facilitation of in class discussions is bar none the best I've had the privilege of experiencing and her feedback on my writing was helpful and insightful.

As a single mom, I love classes that don't have a lot of homework or require me to do a lot outside of class. There is 1 group project where I had to meet with my group which wasn't hard and didn't take much time to prepare for. As long as you participate and do the readings this class is an easy pass. I like how instead of just grading our papers she has a meeting with you where she reads your paper for the first time with you and grades it with you so you can clarify things and so you can see her reasoning for your grade. Participate regularly and actually try on your essays. I haven't had to, but she does allow rewrites and she gives us lab time to work on essays and she walks around and answers questions and gives good feedback

Professor asks specific questions, relating to essays, that helps students ideas become clearer. McLean dedicates class time to essay structuring and class discussions. She's encourages all students so no one feels they're bad writers.

At first she seems to appear very strict and hard but she's really awesome! If you read your books and do your research properly you'll get an A. However, she does give you a ton of work so be prepared to read a lot and write essays! Pop quizzes are super easy if you read ur work and if anything she is willing to give u support during office hr.

Do yourself a favor and don't ruin your semester with this teacher. Unless you want to be teacher's pet and complete some random, unclear activities. Definitely very 'out of context' as she would say...

This was her first time teaching the Shakespeare class and I think she did an excellent job. She gave reading homework frequently and always assigned something to prove you did the reading. There was a mini play and a presentation which weren't as bad as I was expecting, and a couple essays. It wasn't too hard and she was a pleasure to learn from.

She's one of the best teachers I have ever taken. I don't think she is hard, but does assign homework everyday. It's worth only 4 points, it adds up of you don't do it. She's very clear with her essays and is always willing to help. For those who say she's hard are just lazy and don't do the work. If you do volunteer service, her final is optional.

In my opinion Clara Mclean is a very bad English teacher shes very sexiest also trust me on that one. If anybody takes a English class don't take Clara Mclean she's just horrible, yes she will help you, but for those that think that shes a good teacher i dont think so.. She assigns way to much HW and essays and she doesnt even know what shes doing

Awesome teacher! She explains everything really clearly and engages the class, so make sure you do your homework before attending. She does not embarrass you if you do not know your material, which I love. She helps you a lot and takes time to help you when you're stuck. One of the best English teachers I've had. Wish I can take her again!
