He's really, really easy. You can read the book ahead of time, write down the definitions and some of the key listing topics and easily ace the class. He gives study guides for the tests and huge bonus questions. The hardest thing about the class is the four book reports and the 15-20 page term paper, so plan those ahead.

Freeman is nice enough, but his class is very boring. He reads directly from his notes, which were taken from the textbook. His tests aren't too terrible, just a lot of memorizing facts. He requires four 4-page essays and one 15-20 page term paper. They are a pain more than a challenge.

He is a nice guy but the class is sooooo boring and also he makes a huge study guide (that it can be helpful) but then he asks totally different questions on the test.

Comment:

Freeman was a terrible professor, and I was let down by my fellow reviewers on this site like no other time. He assigns BOOK REPORTS and a 15 page minimum (11pt font) research paper. The class was phenomenally dull, and the entire experience was depressing, to say the least. Take Mass Comm with ANYONE else.

Comment:

For an Intro. to Journalism class, all he talked about was writing for newspapers. His lectures were monotoned and dry, and AP style will drive you insane for his in class writing assignments. One mistake is worth 25 points. Book reports are assigned for extra credit, although they don't help much.

Every time i asked a question i felt like he thought i was stupid. not approachable. graded his class entirely too hard for an intro to journalism class.

You have to get through his lectures to find out that his tests and papers are not bad at all. All you have to do is read the book. He is very understanding about papers and takes the classes opinion into consideration. I would highly recommend take mr freeman!

Monotone, but full of good information. You'll learn a lot from him, and he's one of the only profs at ASU to truly teach you how to write for newspapers instead of pushing fluff.

Lectures are kind of rough, and they are straight from the book, but he really is a good guy who is willing to help you. He grades easily on papers and his study guides tell what is going to be on the tests. Class rarely gets out early and he has a tough attendance policy.
