Comment:
Professor Kim is a strange combination of too lenient and too strict. While your midterm paper will take months to grade on an incredibly specific rubric, he will let students contribute absolute garbage to class discussions. Being open minded and encouraging participation, he refuses to stand up for himself, or tell students when they are wrong.

Seminar class, which means deep discussions happen almost every class. He is really open minded and prompts students to engage with each other and the topic at hand. Get ready for a few big assignments, which can make or break your grade. He is super accessible in person and through email, though, so if you reach out, you'll get a good grade.

He's super friendly and willing to help anyone as long as you ask. His class does require a lot of reading, which involves buying a variety of books, and he takes a while to grade assignments.

I loved professor kim! great person who genuinely cares about his students. If you hate dicussion based classes don't take it. I wish he was more specific about what he wants in his essays and his finals but overall a great class with a decent amount of reading.

My favorite professor so far at USF. He's always very upbeat & funny & really makes the class engaging. The class is pure discussion-based & he sits with the students which is great. Only 3 assignments though, & he's a pretty tough grader. I followed the advice of finding him during office hours and it helps but you still have to put in the work.

Prof. Kim is the nicest professor I have had. However, his class is all discussion based which makes it hard to be excited to go. He never puts anything in the grade book so grades are a surprise. There are only two large assignments that determine your grade, and he takes a long time to return feedback. Great guy but frustrating class.

Professor Kim is a nice guy, but disorganized. The class is him giving you a hefty reading assignment, and a discussion of 5% of the reading. Basically, there's no real incentive to read. Plus, he never puts anything in the grade book, so you're in for a surprise at the end. There are 2 papers that determine your grade, one which is worth 40%.

He is the sweetest. He will give you a ton of readings that you should do if you want to pass the class since they are important for the papers that you will write. It's mainly a discussion class, just bring something to say.

Super personable and approachable, and is always heady to help you if you have questions. Really clear lectures and makes Asian philosophy very engaging and interesting. Assigns a lot of readings and is a hard grader but that's just how it has to be to understand everything.

He's a really good professor. Very helpful and understanding. Reading and discussion is key in class! Make sure you go to class and office hours. Don't be afraid to speak with him. Speak up in class even if you don't understand. It'll help clarify your readings.

I don't really like this class. He assigns a lot, but no one reads anything until he gives exam questions. Also, the exam questions are really weird, even though he gives you a week prior to the test. @ in class exams, one take home 10 page essay on some bs topic. Don't recommend, but class is ok.

You can tell prof really loves the material he is teaching and he goes over all the assigned readings in class. He tries to clear up any ambiguity if reading was confusing. Extremely helpful, really wants you to succeed and understand material. Take notes, go to lecture and do well on midterm and final. Plus a 5 pg final paper. AND he's good lookin

Definite eye candy! But dont let that distract you. He assigns readings everyday. Yeah, its boring but he will always go over it in class. Really funny and super caring! He goes over the midterm and final in depth. There will only be 2 questions on the midterm! Nice~
