Comment:
Dennis is a very good teacher for FYS 182 - Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' roll. The class is really easy and consists of mostly simple projects and essays. The topics are interesting and he makes you really be yourself. He can definitely get off topic in his lectures, but overall it was a fun and informational class.

Comment:
The most important part of Dennis' class is to attend lecture and take notes!! The tests are 90% based on notes. Dennis is a very interesting guy, but might not be right for everyone. He will not tolerate any distractions in class, including texting and talking to friends. Show up, pay attention, and take good notes, and you will ace it.

He's very nice... and if you are not one lazy slacker who only takes the class for easy GE, you will get an A. He sometimes goes off the lecture, but that's what make it interesting. It's easy if you are serious and know the terms on the study guide; otherwise don't think this class as an easy A for GE purpose...

I took Soc. 1 in 2010 and Soc. 2 in '11. Both were in early spring. Easy class. Don't even read the book, skim through for the answers based on the study guide questions he gives out. Some people even finished all the test on the 2nd week. By the way, 4 test total, 2 re-takes, and 1 extra credit essay. If you get a B or lower, you suck. VERY EASY.

I took the online class over summer and it was extremely easy. Grade based on 10 quizzes (~15 questions each), 4 tests (~50 questions each, with extremely comprehensive study guide) and a 6 page essay (2 of the pages were drawings).

I really like Dennis. He explains everything really well and he is will to help you throughout the course. He gives extra credit opportuinities, and as long as you read your book and look over the material before the Exam, you will pass. He sometimes goes off on storied that dont relate to the class, but it makes it fun!

Took living room series. I didnt know it but he was my baseball coach when i was in grade school about 15 years ago. He remembered me right away. So i might be biased but i think he is very helpful and wants you to do well. Its straightforward right out of the book. just know the answers to the study sheet and you will get an A.

Took both Soc1 and Soc2 with Johnson. Cool guy, took living room series. Even the 3-week early spring class is very managable. Your grade consists of 4 multiple-choice tests based straight from the book. Johnson even gives a study guide to help you out. Interesting content. Easy grade, great guy!

Johnson is easy going but his lectures are kind of a bore. Sometimes he gets off topic and can be pretty funny but he is not a difficult teacher. He gives you a study guide so you know whats on the tests so study those and you'll do alright. Some test questions are off topic but for the most part he sticks to the point. About 8 essays and 4 tests

My third or fourth class in college. It was beginning sociology which Professor Johnson taught that convinced me to stay in school. Now I am going for my doctorate. Thank you, Dennis.

grade consists of 4 tests, all very easy. just take good notes, memorize people and terms, look at the study sheet, and it's an easy A. he rambles a lot in his lectures, making them not really worthwhile for the actual class. nice guy, but bad lectures.

Mr. Johnson's lecture class is pretty average. He doesn't really adhere to his initial warnings about attendance, so you pretty much get e.c. pts for not missing classes (not saying you should skip). I don't know why people say its hard. His lectures are fun, but don't take them seriously or you will get confused. Just study the book well enough.

Overall, Mr. Johnson seems like a nice guy, but he needs to retire. He has no faith in humanity (including most college students) and lectured about how we would all end up in dead-end jobs. He goes totally off subject during his lectures, so some of the concepts are hard to grasp. Take the living room series class, not the lecture.

Awesome teacher. Very understanding and helpful. LOVES to talk! I took distance learning for both classes with him and they were easy as long as you did your work. Mr. Johnson was even helpful in assisting me with another class. Great person. Definitely recommend him. Be open with him about what is going on in your life and he will work with

A lot of people failed this class, I was practically the only one who got an A. I thought it was pretty interesting stuff but I did not enjoy his lectures, pretty lame. Taking notes is very important in this class, but is hard to do because of the way he lectures.
