This was a tough class for me. It was during the short summer session and the classes were MThWTh 8am-12pm. I also took a Mathematics course so it was a very busy time. I did the quantity of work required for a C but he ended up giving me a B for quality. One-on-One style teaching was a nice break from lectures.

My writing even now, 25 yr layer I still am so gratefully he turned me into A writer in one semester! I now use things he taught me, to teach my children. I would love to know where he is now!' He was so passionate about his work!

The best teacher I have EVER had. I consider him my mentor, I will always remember his way of teaching. He is not easy, he makes you work for your grade. You have to have self discipline to pass this class. You will learn so much from his class!

great man. has his own business editing for writers. really knows his stuff. no lectures, but a lot of one on one time with each student. if you're able to keep on task with out alot of deadlines, he's the one for you!

In Brief: The class in a nutshell. Don't go into shock while reading. There are no lectures, just a book you do assignments out of. You come to class, and put your name on the board. You wait to be called to read your assignment, which might be four hours later. You spend class doing whatever you want. You have to be early by 45 min to get a decent

Don is the best teacher, of any subject, I've ever experienced. I was a 25 year "habitual student" when I took my first class with Pierstorff. From that point on, I became focused on obtaining my degree and getting on with my writing life.

I just can find any interest in this class. He didn't do any lecture except 1 day in the library about how to do the research essay. His grading is very difficult. I don't recommend him for any ESL 199 students.

Comment:

No lectures, all one-to-one coaching. This means all papers are looked at with teacher and student interacting. Actual grading takes place after semester when entire body of work is looked at as a whole. Only type written work accepted is Reasearch Essay. Since this class, I actually perfer to hand write at least first drafts, for all classes.

i got an EASY EASY EASY A! Just do work on time you'll be fine. go to class as early as possible then you go home early!! He liked me a lot..He prefers female students in my opinion.

If you do the minimum work you can get a C. However it is almost impossible to do more than the minimum because he wastes time talking about his war injuries or socializing with the cute girls in the class. The best thing I got out of this class was a few pages from the book on MLA.

Basically this class is one on one. He teaches at his own pace and you must get in two revised assignments in one week to pass the class with a "C" You can't turn in new assignments and don't have any due dates. If you have the patience to wait four hours to get your work graded go for it.

Prof. Pierstorff is the best teacher I have ever had. The classwork is easy and his grading is easy. But do not get behind. There are no due dates. very very easy teacher, but you have to run on schedule- can't do assignments ahead of time, which was a hassal. he gave me a B even though i had barely made enough points for an A. still.. and A is an A right?? not cool. but he is easy.. just takes his SWEEETTTT time grading. took him over summer.

Grading is based on number of assignments you get done, but you can't start a new assignment until he checks off the last one and quite often he doesn't get to all students during a class. I barely slipped by with a "C" cause i had to go at his pace. Out of 27 ppl in my class, none got A's.
