Great guy everyone likes him. Very personable & friendly- go to his office hours for help on exams and project. Does 2 exams and a final (cmltve)- they are hard and word bank fill in which is different. There's a final group project & presentation (15-20 pg paper) that takes a lot of time but he grades very leniently for such a huge grade.

Comment:
Dr. Boyd is very approachable, but it unfortunately doesn't make up for his testing style. Fill-in-the-blank tests require IMPOSSIBLE amounts of memorized detail. Write down EVERYTHING he says in lectures and go to his office. Nice guy, but extremely high expectations. Beware of this class, maybe choose a different elective.

Dr. Boyd is a great teacher although occasionally he is unclear. Test set up is hard but not impossible. study throughout the semester instead of cramming. Group project is alot of work

Boyd seems like a smart guy with a passion for teaching but he doesn't articulate lessons and concepts well. Class consists of vague powerpoints and him lecturing while scribbling down a few messy words on the board. He expects students to learn everything to a tee and understand broad concepts front and back, in detail with no clear explanations.

I took him for Mktg 480 and 450. Attendance is mandatory, no textbook, print out slides, all lecture and discussion based class. Group presentations are a focus of the class which are pretty easy. Tests are difficult but manageable if you pay attention. Great guy who is passionate and understanding. Easy class if you aren't a slacker, participate.

His class was required for my major and he was not easy at all. This may be a pointless review for rate my professor because he is the only teacher that teaches this course but a heads up on the work load he gives. It's a ton of work for an elective major class. He is not for the boys.

The class is hard, very time consuming. Semester tests are pretty difficult and they require you to memorize everything. The final is all fill in the blank though, so not that bad. He's VERY smart guy who knows his stuff. He doesn't lecture at you, but instead wants you to understand the information. Workshops and papers are hard. Tough grader.

This guy is horrible. Smart marketer but absolutely horrible at teaching students the techniques of the industry. It's a shame because the content he is responsible for is very relevant in the marketing world and he makes it PAINFUL.

Miserable miserable class. You must go to every class. Test are hard and if you dont write down verbatim what he wants then it is wrong. One of his 5 test which each only count 8% of your grade is a 50 point essay and a 30 point essay. The project is miserable and hard and very very boring. To sum him up- who drives 3 hrs to work every day?

Tests are ridiculous, he grades ridiculously hard, and the project we did was a waste of time and as a group we learned next to nothing from the project, no one in my group was interested in it at all

Dr. Boyd is one of the best professors I have ever had at JMU! It is a difficult class and there is a lot of work, but he is extremely helpful and cares a lot about his students! He is so nice and very easy to get along with, he even took us out to dinner at the end of the semester after our final project presentations! :)

Attendance is mandatory and you will initially hate this class. Yes, Boyd is too smart for his own good. Make sure you put as many notes on your note card as possible. In time you may come to enjoy this class, but it's challenging.

He's pretty hard - tests are difficult and case studies are not much better. He tries to be helpful, but he isnt very clear about what he wants from you. Markstrat game is easy, and it boosts your grade. Read the book and study a ton.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. The most vague and undescriptive teacher that I have ever had, and I have been to 2 other colleges. Don't bother asking a question, you'll just be answering it yourself anyways. I repeat, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!

Not the easiest course I've taken but you can pass if you work hard. You don't really need to read the book, just stay on top of the powerpoint slides. Your Midterm is the whole book and its all fill ins and word problems, but its not all that bad
