Frank is a great instructor. He is very knowledgeable in the subjects of 3D modeling, Digital Lighting, Texturing, Motion Capture and Rigging. He has high expectations for his students, but will prepare you for the real job world in computer graphics. Frank is one of my greatest mentors and I'm very grateful to have taken is classes at CSU Chico.

Frank's classes are pretty difficult due to the fact that he makes you work for your grade. I will tell you how you all can pass his classes. Prepare for his class BEFORE (I repeat) BEFORE the start of the semester. Watch his videos as well, and NEVER put off his classes. Go to his office hours as well, he is more than willing to help!!

Will give you zero's on assignments, even if they're turned in. Not willing to discuss or remedy this in office hours. Terrible instructional videos, can learn more in a quick google search. By far the toughest grader ever! Not fair, unwilling to cooperate and listen to student's concerns. Pushes you out of your desk when you ask for help. Terrible

He definitely knows what he's doing and is very informative. He gives you all kind of different ways to approach your project, but that's the catch. It's so much information sometimes it's hard to remember it all. Be ready to watch A Lot of videos, those are your textbooks. Don't be afraid to ask for help, he'll help you, but you need to go to him.

Frank is a great teacher and knows his stuff when it comes to modeling. A lot of the course material you will have to learn outside of class, but Frank is always willing to help out in class. He grades tough, but is understanding if the whole class is falling behind. Highly recommend Frank if you want to be a modeler.

The "textbook" is a subscription to online courses on Pluralsight; Not refundable. He haves you watch 6+ hours of some videos and expects you to know how it in about a week and tests you on it. If you're an experienced modeler, you should do fine. But if you're an animator like myself, do not take this class, save your time and money.

I hear a lot of smack about Frank all the time and compared to cakewalk professors like Pozzi and Mark, Frank hits you like a train. In reality he's a nice dad-type guy. He gives good advice, but YOU have to go to him. He has office hours or stay a few minutes after class. He's usually in good humor. Read the rubric, watch the tuts, & work hard.

This is probably the worst teacher I have had at Chico. He doesn't teach in class, he'll give a lecture on something important for our project 2 0r 3 days BEFORE it's due, and he gets mad if you tell him that the online tutorials don't help. Also, there are TOO MANY online tutorials in that class! You won't have time to watch them all!

He didn't teach very much in class (the lectures were mainly online) but he seems like a pretty good teacher and he is pretty clear. The only thing is that I wish he would give feedback. I like to get back feedback so I know how to improve my work later on.

Frank is a man with principle. Before you do any assignment, please read his rubric of this assignment. And also follow the rubric. Then you should be fine. DO NOT BREAK THE RULE, he wont give you any point for creativity. Btw, I am curious about why he is in Computer Science department lol.

Frank, without doubt, knows his material, but it is difficult getting his help in a class of 80 students when there are many others who need his help. Thank goodness for the student mentors! I would not have gotten through the class without them. Don't expect a cakewalk in this class! Frank communicates high expectations & the workload is intense!

The weak link in the APCG program. If you are absolute noob, and if you know nothing of computers/photoshop, it might be challenging, but if you are even 10% experienced with photoshop, you will gain knowledge from the *video tutorials, but will find that this class could be taught in 30 mins a week, not 2 hrs.

Fairly straight forward class, if you enjoy modeling then it's quite enjoyable. You should be spending 60+ hours at least on each project (excluding render time). Frank knows his stuff, but can be hard to get a hold of when there are 12 other students trying to get his attention. My main complaint is that the class is too large.

Frustrating class and teacher: when you ask for help, he'll respond: "watch the tutorials" and walk away. For this class, over two-thirds of the class stayed up past 4 am to finish assignments, EXPECT TO SPEND LOTS OF TIME ON PROJECTS, at least 60+ to earn a decent grade. Can't emphasize this enough. And I still don't understand his grading...

Least favorite teacher by far. We do critiques after grading, so what's the point? Assigns way too much reading and lecturing, which isn't needed. Midterm is only on basics. Gives grades on portrait project based on attractiveness of person.

Frank is very helpful if you ask him questions, don't expect him to come to you. He is very knowledgeable and students can learn a lot from him. He is very clear about his expectations. Don't expect to skate through this class. He expects his students to work hard and produce quality work. The critique process is very helpful to improve.

Frank Pereirra is the worst professor I have ever had. His explanations are excruciatingly long. He will not take the time to help students. I am positive he pulls numbers out of a hat to grade. He has the nerve to insult students in front of the class. He is so self-absorbed we never finish class on time. He talks just to hear himself talk.

Frank is a horrible teacher. he doesn't care at all if his student need help. It's almost immpossible to get a good grade in this class. It doesn't matter if you work is good or not it only matters if he likes it. Make sure you watch every tutorial and take notes cause the midterm it tough if not immpossible without them.
