Fred is awesome! Assignments are exciting and inspirational. You will want to try in this class. This is the first course at RISD I've taken and left with pieces I'm actually proud of. He pushes for creativity in this course, technique comes second, but what he cares about most is how much overall effort and consideration goes into each assignment.

Comment:

Fred is a RISD gem. I had him sophomore year but I liked him so much I took a class with him again. His feedback is truly valuable, he will thoroughly analyze your work to see what's working and what's not. He's funny and very nice. You may even want to take notes on what he says casually because he tends to pull out words of wisdom all the time.

I've had Fred for a couple of classes now. And I haven't learned so much from any other teacher. He's genuinely interested in what you are good at, has a wealth of knowledge, and is critical yet encouraging. Be forewarned though: Puns run rampant in his class. And lots of leading questions. But you get used to it.

LOVE him. He knows so much about the industry and offers useful insight every class, he's kind and genuinely interested in his students, he's fun and gives very helpful critiques. He keeps class lighthearted but still gets business done. He also isn't arrogant like many teachers here and is very accessible. I recommend him to anyone.
