Comment:
Made misogynist puns about female students every class. Told me I would never make it if I were to go to graduate school for French. Now, I have a PhD. Told you, Montbertrand! Do not take unless you can take hearing him say disrespectful things about women every class.

This is most unorganized prof i have ever had, class syllabus, notes, and office prove it. He must be 88 years old and can barely walk, lectures were incomprehensible, notes quizzes and tests were written in the early 90's (dates are posted). WHY is the school still allowing him to teach??! BIG NO

We read tons of folk tales and stories suited for little children. While these are interesting, we didn't do anything else. Quizzes were true false on the story. Very little grammar or vocab. I learned nothing I didn't already know. If you're looking for the easiest A ever, take him. If you are actually interested in French, avoid him at all costs.

I was already fluent in French when I took this class for fun. Professor Montbertrand is amazing...he is funny, passionate, and a very nice man. The work is easy; it is only difficult if you do not speak French prior to this high level class. he does have a thick accent which makes it sometimes difficult to understand in English or French. Awesome

wow, just don't do it. It took me almost all semester just to understand his cyllabus. I could actually speak French before CofC and this class completely kicked my ass. He is incomprehensible and I don't think that he even understands what country he is in or what year it is. Tests are from before any of us were born and show it.

Much of the class is in french, and he loves Literature and makes it interesting. All the quizzes and tests are planned for way ahead of time and he gives hand outs that are pretty much the test itself. There are a few short papers that he corrects and lets you re-do. If you don't like this guy it probably means you should be in lower level class.

I really liked his teaching style. He's a really funny little man who does some really interesting activities in class to get you interested in learning French. Daily quizzes are easy if you read, no final, don't wait to do conjugations the night before the exam and you should be fine.

Not helpful, not clear, hard to understand, literally, because of his heavy french accent. If you're struggling with a higher level french and need to actually learn it- don't take Montbertrand.
