She is very nice but her class had way too much work assigned for being a general education credit. If you don't like online assignments, don't bother taking this class.

I personally struggled in this class because geology was not of great interest to me; the tests contained a lot of information, making it hard to study for. The homework was quite a lot of reading and online quizzes. The professor is very passionate and I enjoyed her, but the topics and work were rough. She provides many extra credit opportunities.

She's a very nice lady, but the work was definitely TOO much to be a GenEd. class. The tests are very hard, there's study guides given but there's soooo much stuff she expects you to go over within a week. The lectures are SUPER boring.

Horrible teacher, Horrible class. It was 1 credit and two hours a week. It felt like 4 hours. No real point to this class, and way to much busy work! I'd say don't take this class but it's required for a geology major. Be prepared to do multiple useless excel assignments. This class was awful. Prof. was not helpful on conveying what she wanted

This is a difficult class. She knows a lot about Geology but makes it too much work for a GenEd course. To prepare for tests she gives you 10 possible prompts to practice, the tests are drawings of 2 of the prompts and she grades HARD. Every week there is an online quiz and she counts absences against you. I worked extremely hard for my B+

Professor Peterson was extremely knowledgeable about geology, and it definitely showed. That being said, I didn't think she was the best choice for this course. She didn't seem very confident in relaying the information and the workload was a little much for a general education course. Get started on your concept sketches early - they're stressful.

Very kind professor! She is willing and excited to help, very friendly person. She loves geology, and her love for it somehow rubs off on the students whether you had an interest in Geology or not. Would recommend her!

She knows what she is talking about and can answer pretty much any question you throw at her no matter how off the wall it may be. This class defiantly took a little more work than I first anticipated but its a good science choice for gen ed. Lectures are pretty boring but you can stay awake if you make sure they are only 50min long.

Even though I ended up with an A- in the class I can honestly say this is not an easy class. You have to work really hard to keep a good grade. The book is used a lot because she assigns a lot of reading. You don't get that much homework so that was nice. The exams and quizzes were not that bad, but if you think you don't have to study..you do.

This class was a lot harder than I thought. Ginny was nice though. Yes, lectures got boring, but really how exciting can rocks be? However, the assignments that pertained to Michigan geology were pretty interesting. Also- beware of the lab final! Go to the study sessions! But the field trips to the ravine & mine were interesting and different.

This class was awful. Painfully boring and you have to basically memorize the chapters to get a good grade on the exams. What a waste of time...

I totally hated this class. The class is soo slow. I felt like it was a waste of my time going because it felt like all the things she was teaching coule have been put in 6 weeks. I mean, it felt like she wasn't going anywhere with her info and when I did use her outlines from blackboard, they still didn't help me to better understand the conten

Ginny was a great prof for labs! She helped you understand rather than just give the answer. This may seem easier than other sciences but it is not really. Her lectures were somewhat boring but not terrible. Powerpoints were well put together (most of the time). She gets you involved outside of class (field trip, ravining, book reading etc)

She is very into her subject and tries to convey it to her students in an understandable way. The labs are very understand able and easy and she is willing to go beyond the textbook and give information pertaining to the geology of Michigan, not just the info in the textbook.

Ginny was a nice lady and very knowledgable in her area, but the lectures were pretty "blah". She is very helpful if you go to office hours so take advantage of them. This is a great class to take CR/NC especially if it is for your theme.
