Comment:

Tests are VERY hard but the labs are pretty easy, just tedious. There are two tests and a final, along with a weather log and a group presentation/paper. Both the weather log and project are easy. This class is a lot of work but if you study and do all the work, passing isn't an issue. Doesn't take attendance but sometimes assigns E.C. in class

Lectures are so boring and not interesting at all. Kind of a nerd. Nothing from the powerpoints are on the test and he gives you a study guide but is far from clear about what he wants you to know. Unnecessarily hard but labs are ok.. Lot of work for only 10 points

Professor Pope is great! I would definitely take him again, he is a great guy. Although, his tests are hard you have to study! Get the book and follow along as he is lecturing and you'll pass. His power points are brief and he talks a lot in class but it's very interesting

This class was an interesting one. The labs are so easy, however he is one of the toughest graders I've ever had. Don't take this class unless you're prepared to study for hours. The test are ridiculously hard if you didn't take time to study. Theres a group presentation at the end. He gives a lot of extra credit though. He's really nice but boring

Selected topics in Geoscience had a lot of fieldtrips and seminars.He was not helpful at all.I took this as an UG student but the class was filled with PhD and Masters students.Tough luck if you were UG Student,he rated everybody the same way. He traveled out of the country 3 weeks before end of semester and wanted all coursework completed by then

His tests are hard if you don't study & take notes.He gave a 6pt curve on BOTH exams. Labs are extremely tedious but theyre manageable. He doesnt take attendance in lecture; however, I recommend you go. Labs require attendance. Textbook is needed for studying. Theres a weather log & group presentation at the end. Not too bad of a course.

its true that his tests are hard. but if u study the study guide he gives u, then u'll be fine. he has ppt, but it doesnt rly help for tests, so dont take notes on that, take notes on WAT HE SAYS. he makes corny jokes. and kinda cute lol. oh yea labs r easy. dont b so stressed on works that he gives u. hes not picky on grading.

Do not take him! His tests are hard and he will tell you right off the bat -- he does NOT curve. He assigns a lot of work and then takes forever to hand things back...we have yet to get any of our work back this semester. Avoid him and this class. The only plus? He never takes attendance.

Even though I thought that the lectures were interesting, this class was very hard, especially when it came to the tests!! If you are interested in this subject and have a lot of time to study then take it. Prof Pope is great. He's very smart and quirky. Kinda cute too...

He's really hard. He's such a nice guy, but he grades hard. He's labs are easy, but the tests are really hard and unclear. He doesnt explain things well either. He takes attendance by show of hand and everything. So you really have to go to class. This course is hard though.

This is a very hard class. It meets twice a week with a lab. It's alot of work to do well. The labs are easy, but the tests are extremely hard. He's a nice guy,he's quirky, and a little funny. It's alot of effort to deal and do well in this class.

Came to class unprepared, taught things wrong several times during the class in which the GA had to correct him. Never explained what he wanted for papers due, but thats ok cause he never handed a single paper back. HE WILL KILL YOU GPA...stay far far way from him.
