Comment:

Professor Du is one of the best Chinese teachers I have had since starting Chinese. While she does require a lot of out of class work, it is to better understand the language and be prepared for the end of unit tests and the final exam. She really cares about her students, and will work with you outside of class to understand the material.

Comment:

Du-laoshi is a great professor! Her class starts off a little slow (because you have to learn pinyin) but once you start learning to read hanzi she has you reading Chinese effortlessly! There's a lot of homework but as she says, if you don't practice you won't learn--and homework is how you practice!

Kind, funny, and helpful. Easy mini quizzes every day, some straightforward tests. You must do your homework (lots) and read/listen to the book; you cannot skip this or you will not understand or pass. Some light partner work in class, skit at the end; mostly individual overall. She has lots of office hours and will help whenever!

I had Du laoshi for my second semester of Chinese. She is such a sweet and helpful lady. She really cares about her students and makes the content easy to understand. The class does not set you up for failure. If you ask for help, you'll get it, but attendance is so important. Miss one day, and you feel so behind.

Du laoshi is by far the greatest teacher I have had at Wright State. I was nervous to take Chinese, but she makes it fun and enjoyable. I am a Business major, but am now minoring in Chinese because of her! Highly suggest taking this class!!!

Du Laoshi has been one of three Chinese teachers I have had. She uses the book and homework regularly. You need to practice and review in order to do well on mini quizzes and tests. But she also gives the extra credit opportunity if you read the dialogue to her after class. I think i learned a lot in the class.

I took a little Chinese in High School so this class was just a refresher, but Du Laoshi was an awesome teacher. She's open to answer any questions and will help you find a "language partner" - native Chinese speaker - to help you throughout the semester. Great class.

She is very sweet and helpful. She sends you a lot of e-mails to remind about tests and quizzes. Fun and humorous in class.The class is as difficult as any other language, but she explains very clearly and is willing to work with her students. Great teacher!
