Loved this class! I wasn't looking forward to precalculus he made everything easy to understand and entertaining too. Explains how "math" is used in the "real" world which made me feel better about learning it. Your grade is only made up of 5 tests and a final but lowest grade is dropped. Do the homework and his reviews and you'll get an A.

I was lucky to have Dr. McKaig again but for Calc 3. Again, he is one of the best lecturers Ive ever known. My suggestions are do the hw (even though its not graded) and be comfortable with trig identities, integration methods, and how parametric equations work. He WILL assume you are fluent (which if youve come this far, you really should be).

Comment:

Had Dr. McKaig for ODEs over summer and his lectures were fantastic. A little fast paced but thorough. He assigns hw but doesnt collect or grade it. 5 tests plus a final but he drops your lowest. Average of your top 5 tests is your grade for the class. Easily the brightest and best math professor at TCC. Cant wait to have him again for Calc 3!

Comment:

First math class I have gotten an A in. All of the tests are your class grade and he drops the lowest. Grading criteria is very straightforward and he gives partial credit. Do the practice tests and you will get a good grade. Homework is not mandatory, but for practice. Overall best math professor I have had.

This was my 2nd time taking pre calc 1 and Prof Mckaig really helped me pass! Hes an amazing professor and he gives you some credit as long as you try the problem. If you struggle at math you should take him. I wish he was teaching pre calc 2 so I could take his class.

Dr. McKaig is the math teacher you want to be learning math from. As long as you are willing to pay attention in class and do the homework, you will get a good grade. Attendance and homework are not mandatory, but I recommend going to class and doing the homework if you want a good grade. Practice tests Real tests with slight variations.

Dr. McKaig thoroughly explains his lectures. he moves quite fast depending on the section. he gives test dates on course outline the first week too. tests are the only grades and he drops the lowest test grade. ive taken him twice and he is an absolute great teacher!

Professor McKaig is amazing. I've taken him for Precacl 1 and 2. His lectures make sense and all homework is not graded. When he grades the test, he gives partial credit for work even if answer is wrong. He is very funny and cares about his students.

I've NEVER received an A in a math class before taking him. He makes learning fun and ensures everyone is on the same page before moving on. He reviews the last class's material before beginning a new one so missing a class is not terrible. Grading criteria is right on point and no homework is graded but is posted for practice.

Really knows calculus and teaches great shortcuts given you can do some algebra in your head... his words. He hates formulas and has a passion for teaching concepts and not memorization. He applies concepts to the real world. I learned a lot from his calc 1 class. Make sure you take notes. His lectures a great but not required. Also, hw not graded.

Hands down the greatest professor at TCC. Doesnt just throw formulas at you, actually gets you to understand where they come from. Also incorporates real life examples. Drops one test, can be the final if you want! Doesnt take attendance nor does he grade homework. Cant wait to take this guy again over the summer!

Dr. McKaig is awesome. He knows math like no one's business. The homework is NOT required or graded, but if you want to pass his class, you should do it for the practice you need to understand the material and pass the tests, since they come right from the hw. He drops a test grade. Tests are pretty hard. Study hard and get an A or B easy.

I took Dr McKaig this semester and although i received a C, its entirely my fault. The homework is optional so you dont HAVE to do it but if you dont (i didnt), you wont pass the tests. He is a phenomenal teacher and i thoroughly enjoyed his lectures. Only tests are graded but he gives a practice test that is almost identical to the real deal.

Comment:

If he is teaching a class you need, don't hesitate: take him! Mckaig can do no wrong, his teaching is off the wall amazing. Utterly brilliant guy, knows how to mix in math history stories & theory in a way that keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire class. I had him for 164 and calc; both classes were 2 hours long per lesson, so I know!

Professor McKaig is brilliant! His lectures are clear, and he's interesting and witty. The homework is not graded, but the test questions come right out of the homework assignments. I highly recommend his class.

Comment:

Hilarious teacher with a passion for math that will just draw you in even if you are not into math major. Drops lowest test grade. His final exam counts the same as a normal test, so it can replace any low test grade. No homework required but if you don't practice then you are done. Do the practice tests he give, it's helpful.
