Comment:
Her class was honestly really boring and painful to sit through, but she was nice and the class was really easy. She's knowledgeable and has a lot to say if you're genuinely interested in what she's teaching, but if you're just there for the GE credits like I was then you probably won't learn much.

Comment:
Lectures were very boring and disorganized. Grading was extremely unclear, as she would rarely give us actual prompts or rubrics for essays and projects. She did not have clear expectations for the class. I did not always feel comfortable speaking in class. Easy A, but not enjoyable whatsoever.

Comment:
Did not come with a plan for lectures, whole class was basically just a long conversation with awkward pauses. Felt like I couldn't say certain things in class because she is very politically correct. Grading scheme is fair. Appreciated that most of your grade is based off of participatory assignments. Nice person, but didn't like the class.

Comment:
Graded based on attendance, papers, and a project. I liked her free-flowing creative approach to teaching poetry and history. Mainly comments on political correctness when it comes to grading papers. The creative project allows you to create art or poetry of your own, or you can write a research paper. Accepted my late midterm and generous grader.

By far the best professor I have had at UCD. She is not one of those professor that have a hard core structure. At the contrary she wants her students to interpret the content from a conscious perspective. She is very godhearted, caring, and sensible. Her discussions are engaging and her class taught me a great deal about life. She is very wise.

Many people are bothered by her tendency to tell stories and ramble, however, they seem to miss the wisdom and interesting points she imparts. She is extremely goodhearted, caring, and sensible. Like any class, you should do the readings and engage in discussion, but you'll be well rewarded. Her class has taught me a great deal about life & people.

Professor Ines Hernandez-Avila mainly focuses on Native peoples of Latin America and rarely, if ever focuses on Native Americans, Hawaiians, etc... The class and lectures and very unstructured and the tests are hard in comparison. False facts are often thrown around by the professor and lecture is boring.

This professor's classes are more about spirituality. When you write a paper she wants you to input everything you have learned so far but she mostly wants to know your personal opinion and how you connect with it. She is a very easy person to get along with and I recommend attending her events whenever possible. She has a lot of connections. ;)

I already regret taking this class. WORST professor ever. I only took this class because it was a requirement for my major. She never lectures on the material which she expects you to learn it yourself by reading. All she talks about are her experiences that has nothing to do with the material. I don't even know why she teaches this class.

Attendance is mandatory, otherwise nobody would come. Lectures trail on and are boring, but the class is extremely easy. Section is also mandatory, but the TAs were awesome.

This class is very average. At first lecture is informative, then it trails off. My TA was fantastic at discussion. No one is quite clear enough on essay formats but there's a study guide for final and midterm. You have to read. Average Average

This class was hilarious it was so bad. 350 characters is not enough to explain how awful this professor is. She takes attendence because no one would attend otherwise. One TA seemed chill, the other one was a prick- I got the prick. Name is Jarold Blain. This class is also one big pity party. I felt like I was a criminal when I left the lectures.

It seems her sole reason for teaching is to make emotionally charged speeches which go nowhere. If you're white, expect to be informed of how insensitive you are, regardless of the fact you must be interested if you decided to take the class. There are better NAS courses out there. If you take one of those you might actually learn something.

Worst professor at UCD. Beware! She makes the NAS department look bad. With her as a professor, it is no wonder why the NAS is a joke at UCD.

this class was nice because its a small group and you're working to put on a performance so youre forced to talk to people which was something i needed. you work on the performance which is your grade. you also do journal entries. very calming

I have taken several of her courses and I have learned a great deal in all of them. I enjoy her lectures because they are not structured for the mind, but rather for the spirit. Her grading is based on one's own personal interpretations, analysis, and creativity and she does not limit students in any of these areas, only guides.

This was the worst class that I have taken at UC Davis and the worst professor I have had. She taught NOTHING in the class and relied on constant videos and guest speakers. She never lectured once in class. The only time I learned anything was from the guest speakers. You won't learn anything from this class and it will bring your GPA down.

This was by far the most cracked out, crazy, ignorant prof I've come across at Davis. Her class is unstructured and boring. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS FROM HER.
