Okay he is a very arrogant person. The only way you are guranteed to get an A in his class is if you attend and record his lectures. almost everything is found in his lectures maybe even everything! His last exam had everything exact from previous exams.

His class consists of lecture and tests. You MUST go to class because a lot of his lecture is not in the book. Reading the book before class does help, but you can get away with not reading as long as you go to class and take really good notes. Lastly, DO THE STUDY GUIDES! They really help!

He makes you read your book and he just talks about what's in the book. He doesn't tell you what notes you should take. BUT he does give you study guides for the tests. Whatever you put in the study guide is in the TEST! I liked his class either way :)

Great Prof. He does lecture and expect you read out of the book. maybe one question per test is from read not covered in class. just know your stuff. only downside is no extra work. 4 test and paper so pay attention. us military history. will ask trick questions. 2 battles lee fought on union soil. multiple choice and essay for teats.

I don't know why others don't like the way he teaches. Personally I love professors who only lecture, but I guess you also have to love the subject. He gives 4 test with a study guide so it's impossible not to get an A. You have to study the questions on the study guide with depth not just find one answer and thats it.I will take him again for 1306

NOT FUN!!! His class is very boring and his test are hard! He does not give good test reviews and does not follow the book so it makes it even harder to study ! He grades very harsh and requires a very long report with sooo many restrictions and it seems impossible to complete. I DO NOT recommend him to anyone!

Very boring & unnecessarily difficult. He was so harsh on everyone's term papers he told us we all failed it & he returned it to the entire class, & told us all to rewrite it. This was after a rough draft grading too, making the rewrite the 3rd version. After we all turned it in the 3rd time he failed most of the class. Thinks he is an English Prof

You must attend class each day, or he will announce to the class that you have been irresponsible. He does give reviews that are similar to the exam, but the exam ends up being harder than you expected. Do NOT miss any classes because what you miss class will most likely be on the exam. If you do take his course; TAKE A RECORDING DEVICE! Good Luck

I took McCaffrey for my U/L U.S. Military History class and I have to say your experience will depend on your learning style. His lecture is not supplemented by any visuals and he seems to have a hard time staying on track. I have struggled in this class, as have my classmates, due to lack of understanding of his expectations and content.

Dr.McCaffrey is the worst history professor at UHD. The exams are extremely difficult and sometimes inconsistent with lectures. He takes points off of exams for ridiculous reasons. No extra credit, quizzes or homework. To succeed in this class you must form a study group.

He is a great professor, gives study guides similar to the tests. Attendence is mandatory, he takes attendance every day. He does not tolerate sleeping in his class, but thats just showing mere respect. Complete study guide, read the book and you should be able to make an A in his class. He is funny ALWAYS has a joke and i would recommend him.

I would say the class if pretty easy if you pay attention and do the review. The review is exactly like the test. He does NOT like hats, sunglasses, phones, very old style but still funny. I got a B. There are 3 exams drops the lowest and if you make an A in all the test he does not make you take the final. Highly recommended.

He takes daily attendance, does not like cell phones or hats in class, and will kick you out for sleeping. However, he was a nice professor, sometimes funny, and the tests were not too hard if you study the review sheets.

Expecting students to act in a socially respectful way isn't bad, so if you don't act like a thug your good. Pay attention to him, he's old school & hard of hearing, I'd take him again. He's pretty interesting and knows his stuff. Don't be lazy or sleep in class...as everyone has said, no glasses, hats, cellphones, or stupid excuses

Dr. McCaffrey is a great professor! He is old school. As far as the earlier, negative review in May, 2011, it's obvious that this individual should never have made it out of the fifth grade, much less onto a college campus. Learn to read,write, and construct grammatically correct sentences. Then, enroll in college.

Dr. McCaffrey has a good teaching style that makes the class interesting. His tests are easy if you study his reviews. His test are multiple choice and have the same questions as the review but in a different format.
