She was a great teacher and is truly interested in the material. Overall tests weren't that bad, but they did require a fair amount of memorization. Non-cumulative final. Almost all of your grade is from 2 tests and final. You're required to go on two Saturday field trips, but they were fairly interesting. Good choice for a plant bio class.

A bit of memorization required for three tests including the final exam, but she's really straight forward in terms of what she's expecting. There are several small assignments and readings which are easy. Two Saturday field trips are required as well. They don't take longer than 3 hours each and pretty mindless.

She's alright. She loves plants. Her and Nordell's exams were harder than the other teachers. They just require you to apply what you know more often. It's do-able. Just study the notes, ask questions, and you'll be fine.

Dr. Barber is the reason I became a Biology major. I have never met anyone with such a sincere passion for their field. She teaches her students not because she has to, but because she wants to share her passion with them. Take this class.

Dr. Barber is a fantastic and extremely knowledgable professor. I laugh at all the freshman who complain about her after taking 106 because they can't handle college level courses. For Botany, Dr. Barber is superb, and her energy is infectious

Loves her plants. Very helpful and enthusiastic - almost made me truly care about plants. Now I'm the freak that looks at something and talks about their trichomes. Kind of detailed test but you'll do fine as long as you don't wait too long to begin studying.

Dr. Barber is everything but helpful. She is the least understanding person I have ever met. She is extremely rude. She gives off the impression that she is too good for you. She makes snide remarks in class and is not afraid to call someone out. Her tests are impossible. You need to know every single detail. Don't take her class. She is awful.

Dr. Barber is intelligent let me say that. But that is it. She does not budge for anyone..logical reasoning is ineffective on her (to her something that is impossible is more likely to happen than something that is possible). Ineffective, not understanding, to put it honestly she doesn't care about you. She has a PhD, you don't.

Comment:
Dr. Barber is not a good professor. While her slides are detailed and comprehensive, her tests suck. The questions are random and very detailed oriented as opposed to over-arching concepts. Talks too fast and has a fill-in-the blank approach to ppt note taking which makes studying difficult if you missed a word in class.

Barber is the worst college teacher i ever had. She is exteremely rude and doesnt teach well. Plan on being tested over things that were barely talked about and tiny little details in the notes. Its worthless asking her questions in her office because she never answers the question. Avoid her if possible.

Dr. Barber is fantastic! She really loves what she does and it shows through her teaching. Unfortunately, her counterpart, Dr. Camillo is a little less clear and much harder. Take her class!

She makes learning every minute detail about plants almost interesting. She's incredibly nice, and tends to wear either a scarf or an ascot daily, which always entertained me.

She is one of the worst professors that I have ever taken. She focuses on broad subjects in lecture and on slides but asks the smallest and most picky detailed questions on the exams. Went to office hours 5 min b4 they started and got yelled at and refused to help. I much recommend taking Mueller and Knoft rather that Barber and Camillo.

I really appreciated her teaching style. Her slides are so clear that it isn't necessary to read the book, except for reference. She knows plants well and her passion for plant life is contagious. I would be careful about taking her course if she teaches it with Dr.Camillo because many students had trouble with his teaching style and test-writing.

Not a fan. She does OK in lecture, despite usually speaking very quickly. The problem is the tests. She and Knouft are the worst test writers I have come across in my life. You can know 100% of the lecture material EXACTLY, WORD FOR WORD and still miss a good number of questions. I got A's in gen chem, orgo, mcb, and benofy physics, but an A- here

SHE IS AWESOME! I'm a guy and not a big fan of plants, but she made it so much fun. I had her freshman year too and still can say she is one of the best professors at SLU. I would take all of her classes if I could!

I took Spring Flora- awesomest class ever. Watch out for the ticks and bugs. Barber speaks really fast, but she is easy to approach and really helpful. Definitely take this class if you get the chance.
