TAKE PLAYWRITING! Seriously it was the best class I've taken so far at loyola. If you actually want to feel motivated and inspired and feel like your classroom is a community and not a random group of strangers, TAKE THIS CLASS. I miss this class very very much. And Bassett actually cares about you and what he's teaching.

My Playwriting class wrote so much. My other classes suffered a bit because I wrote so much for Bassett, but his writing exercises were very helpful and he seemed to care about my progression as a writer. I would recommend him if you are ready and willing to do the work. But, he is super vague with his instructions for assignments.

Great class -- learned something new - what a concept! Seems like you always have to deal with dead wood from group members -- especially those "film" students who don't KNOW squat. Listen to Bassett, take the ride. A really good experience for someone brand new to the production experience.

DO NOT TAKE HIM! If you have any interest in learning how to make a movie do not take this man. He is impatient, rude, unprofessional and will teach you absolutly nothing about making a movie. Unless you like being publically yelled at and criticized for making a minor mistake or asking a simple question don't take him! Should not be teaching!!!

Prof. Basset is extremely inpatient. Every assignment is unclear. He would throw temper tantrums every class. Once he told our class to bring a copy of a paper to class and then proceeded to have a fit when every member of the class brought one copy apparently A copy means 2 copy's.

he's amazing-- can be critical but always constructively. he genuinely cares about what his students are writing and he really tries to help everyone along in the class. he's demanding but if you are committed to the class it's easy to get through.

This was one of my all-time favorite classes. You gotta do your work, but he makes it well worth it. He provides new insights and REALLY DOES CARE about his students goals and futures. He has a lot of good advice and experience. I HIGLHY RECOMMEND THIS COURSE TO ANYONE!!!!!

Bassett is great!!! He really knows his stuff, and he definately encourages you to express your own opinions on a work despite whether or not it is contradictory to his. The class is really interesting and fun and promotes great discussion. I look at plays in a whole new way, so it was great! Just make sure to read the plays, there are always quize

Michael Bassett is great! He'll hate some of the plays you loved, but either way it is a great time. The midterm is a group project where you have to do a critique on one of the plays you saw. The final you have to write play or do a critique. It's not bad. Plus when your done you feel cultured!

Mike is the coolest guy ever, and his class is really easy. There's 2 papers, critiqing 2 plays you have to see. Otherwise, ur grade is made up of just going to class. It's really easy and he's a cool guy. He seems like the kind of teacher that would go to the bar with you after class.
