I took intro to chem during the summer and loved Dr. Holland. This was a short class so there was a lot of homework, but it was not too bad. He also gave extra credit.

Come to his class ready to work hard and learn a lot. Chem isn't an easy subject and he doesn't treat it as such. If you're a crap student, don't take this class. Only bad students give him a bad rep, but honestly he's ok.

Wasn't doing so hot, peers weren't doing so hot. Wouldn't be done grading all of our second tests till after drop day. I go to seem him, he has mine done luckily and I'm still struggling. I ask him whats the best option since I'm not a Chemistry major. Tells me to drop the class. Then changes grading afterwards due to class anger. What a man.

He is the main reason the Chemistry department at UCM is joke. One day he laughed at how horrible the equipment was that we were using and admitted that the information would be inaccurate. Cares about nothing but himself and the pleasure of people calling him a doctor.

Absolute joke of a man, he treats every student like they are beneath him and expects us to have a PhD knowledge. He tells you one thing on the lab report and then when you get it back all the students just look in awe at how we all failed. Never take this man unless you have a death wish or have something to prove to man with nothing in life.

He is smart, good, and intelligent. However, we do not have PHD in chemistry, so he must be aware of that. His tests are horrible. They are not for the average students, who are not in Chemistry field. If you are a C guy in Chemistry, skip him. If you are an A guy, he is wonderful

Comment:

Plan on 18 hours/week outside of class for homework. Dr. Holland is very helpful, patient,and available for his students. Class moves pretty fast, and some concepts are difficult, but Dr. H helps step you through it. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Lectures were helpful. Plan to work, and plan to learn!

He's a terrible teacher, he doesn't like to help you. He's extremely full of himself, and will call you stupid if you do not understand anything about what he just taught you. Don't even try going to ask him questions because he won't help you. You're on your own in his class, and it sucks because what he says never makes sense. Good luck!

At first this class was really easy. He lets you do a lot of in class work and his online homework lets you try each question 5 times. The homework is easy but the tests can kick you in the butt. He's a wierd little man that is really hard to understand for the most part. Then again he IS probably one of the better Chem teachers....

A little unorganized and a little weird, but a overall pretty good instructor. The class goes a lot slower than most. He grades pretty easy. If you try he will usually give you credit. I enjoyed his class a lot being a Chemistry class.

If you have never taken any Chemistry, I highly suggest not taking this instructor. In my opinion the class was taught as a Chemistry Major's class would be taught. The lectures don't have much to do with the tests, and the teacher is boring and confusing.Not an easy class...Proceed with caution!!!!

Very confusing man.. confuses himself when teaching. I attended every class and it taught me nothing. I learned everything from other students and tutors. Very hard class because professor doesnt do his job of teaching the students.

i have never taken chemistry before and i got an "a" in the class. and i am horrible at math so this is a very easy class. if you need help you can ask him anytime. he gave worksheets for the non-multiple choice stuff that we learned. we wrote two papers that were super easy, but don't lie about where you got the information, because he checks.
