Professor Silbert is one of the best options for humanities. He is really into the material and encourages everyone to participate. He knows every one of his students by name and spends the first week getting to know everyone in the class. He does have a bit of an arrogant personality though.

If you like art maybe you'll like this guy, but I don't. Lectures make absolutely no sense, he talks about things that have absolutely nothing to do with the humanities and then tests you on things you never talked about. Avoid at all costs

He is very rude to his students. He won't explain to you exactly what you did wrong. It's either you write what he wants you to write in his words or your wrong. I would not recommend him to anyone if you want a good grade.

He cries a lot in class and makes everyone so uncomfortable. test are ridiculous and he doesn't test on anything he actually teaches. avoid at all costs, such a waist of time and energy. don't talk in class because he will call you out and embarrass you in front of the class. he also takes a big old dump on catholics. good luck!

He is such a sweetheart! He is always willing to answer any questions you have. It is easy to tell that he loves what he is teaching and he is really passionate about the humanities. Around 5 short essays, but mostly opinion based and as long as you do what he asks, it's an easy A! Also gives lots of extra credit on the two exams.

For someone that is artistically inclined and creative, this is your dream class. But for someone who is not at all, like me, it was a nightmare. Projects include painting, making collages, museum critiques, and writing. (plus written rationales for each). shows up to class late, lectures have little to do with exam questions, but does play music.

AMAZING TEACHER!! Very wise. 3 papers and 3 exams. Class is only worth 100 points, so every assignment matters. Provides clear expectations on tests and papers, and gives bonus opportunities with every test. Very interesting class!!

I get the impression that this prof just tries to fill up 50 minutes each day. Lectures are void of material, very little seems to tie back to the course. The tests are purely on the textbook- makes me wonder why I am paying for this class. Frequently shows up late and then expects everyone to stay an extra few minutes so he can finish his thought.

Prof. Silbert is one of the most intelligent men on campus. You will be on the edge of your seat if you love to learn. If you want to be a vegetable and refuse to learn, you won't like him. I highly recommend his classes as they are engaging and absolutely enthralling.

You won't learn much from the lectures so read the book. He goes off on tangents and rambles on for the majority of the class. He is a minister at a church and seems to have confused that job with this teaching job, in the fact that his lectures are based in his beliefs on how people should act and not on historical fact.

Professor Silbert is fantastic and I loved his class. Reading the text book is a must!!! We didn't cover everything on the midterm in class, so you need to read. Also, assignments are creativity-based and can be fun if you think outside the box and make them enjoyable!

Dr. Silbert is awesome! He does tend to go off on tangents, but lecture is always really interesting so it's not a big deal. The assignments are pretty boring if you just follow the instructions, but if you use a little creativity you can have some fun with them. Lots of videos, music (Jimi Hendrix!), and art in class. A+ instructor!
