Dr. Van Voorhis is an absolutely amazing instructor. She is tremendously knowledgeable about classical art. She is extremely passionate and she lets her passion show when she is teaching. She also has a great sense of humor and keeps the lectures interesting. The class I took with her was also extremely easy. Just pay attention to all the lectures.

Julie is truly the most amazing professor Ive ever had. She engages with students and is very understand with any issues you might have. Her lectures can be boring if youre not interested in the topic but she makes them fun and entertaining. Shes also not afraid to call out bs like some of my other professors are, and I really admire her.

This is an extremely easy class. if you need an easy Gen Ed or any reason to take this class, take it. only 5 QUIZZES no exams. quizzes are two questions basically. two easy papers. easy A!

Don't take CLASC206 with her if you have no background in Art History. I took it as an intro course for the Classical Studies major, and I did great on the position papers since they had to do with Archaeology, but the quizzes aren't graded on any objective material, it's hard to figure out what she wants.

Her voice can be really boring, but the class is really interesting if you can stay awake. She's very kind, helpful, and definitely knows the material. I'd highly recommend. Don't buy the textbook, though. I didn't use it once.

A lot of other reviews have said Professor Van Voorhis was a boring lecturer, but I found her to be quite funny and very clear on what she expected. I knew nothing about art prior to this course and I ended up excelling. Definitely give it a chance. You do have to study for the tests, but it's easy if you put forth effort.

Although she is a boring lecturer you need to be in class to learn the material as the textbook is rarely used. Attendence is not mandatory but is taken into account if you need your grade bumped up. The tests can be a pain as they are subjectively graded by the TA's.

Not as good as Reilly. Very boring and monotonous. Usually I don't have to read the book, but for her I had to b/c I would literally stop listening to her. Only attended to make sure I didn't miss anything important. Very relieved when Reilly started teaching! Nice woman, just a boring teacher.

Awesome teacher. Be sure to take her Topics in Art History: Rome In Film class. It's a lot of fun and you get to watch a plethora of intresting films. The class was quite enjoyable and I highly enjoyed Professor VanVoorhis' lectures.

She knew very little about ancient egypt and got alot wrong. the tests were easy if you know much about egypt...so if you want a jerk off class then take it. But I wish I had not waisted my time.
