Comment:
The worst Professor I've had at Suffolk thus far. His lectures never had any type of content to it, rather he would tell us his only job was to answer questions about the textbook. When the virus hit he refused to do any online learning and has instead been MIA. Couldn't even make any effort to adjust the course during the virus. Awful, avoid.

Love the guy, he gave great lectures and is a funny dude. However, he is a super strict grader and if you don't follow guidelines on every assignment your grade WILL be affected. He definitely could have been a little more forgiven in that department. Still, enjoyed going to his class and actually learned a great deal.

Grades only on midterm, long paper, and final exam. Assigns long and complex readings for every class and gets upset when people don't understand them. He does not use blackboard at all and his syllabus is not specific enough to follow along for assignments, so you need to show up to get homework. He also does not use any power points for lecture.

It's his way or the highway. The work itself isn't tedious, but don't expect him to like what you've come up with even if it's done well. Lectures are interesting, and you'll get a lot out of them. At least when you leave with a mediocre grade, you can say you learned something.

Great lecturer, you'll learn a lot. But unless your papers match what he wants (his opinion on things) you will do poorly. Just do your best, but know it's probably not good enough for him.

I really wanted to like him as a professor, but because he was such a tough grader, I cannot say he is very good. He is one of the best lecturers I have had at Suffolk, and each class peaked my interest in going to class. The first half of the semester was a breeze, but I had to fight to keep my grade up on the papers of the second half.

He is an inspirational and amazing professor but one of the hardest graders I have ever experienced. If you do not participate or do the homework you are screwed. He is a great guy but way too difficult. Take at your own discretion but do not take him if you do not have to!!!!

He's easily one of the best professor I've had. Very inspirational, and constantly challenge you to think critically. Yeah, he's a tough grader and very particular about what he wants, but meet him outside of class and he would do anything to help you improve your grade and your overall academic development.

Carragee was honestly one of my favorite professors at Suffolk. He made class interesting, and although his grading was tough, he pushed me to work hard. You can tell he honestly cares about his students.

Incredibly hard grader, if you don't want to put in a ton of work, don't take his classes. That said, he's one of the most caring people you'll meet, and is incredible at actually getting you to learn. He is one of those teachers who will go above and beyond to make sure you understand the material, so long as you ask. He's still really hard though

Took 2 courses w him during my first semester at Suffolk. They were so difficult that I literally went into his office & cried after 2 weeks of being in them; I thought that if all of grad school was like this, I'd never survive. But he was so caring & reassured me that I could do this. I would have dropped out if it wasn't for him encouraging me

His professor is, by far, the worst teacher I have ever had in my 15 years of schooling. In a small class, I have never felt less significant. He does not know my name, ignores emails, and offers little to no help to students who come to office hours, He is also has the most monotone voice. He is painful to listen to, and angering as a person,

I was in two media studies classes with Dr. Carragee 25 years ago at Boston College and I still regret throwing out the course pack. Best teacher I ever had.

Passed in my research paper early for feedback, made all changes (4 pages of them) and still barely passed it. Comments on final not helpful and I must have gotten a zero in class participation even though I participated. He thinks he is teaching at MIT or to the MENSA society. I don't mind a difficult class but this one was impossible.

This guy makes Dana Rosengard look like Dr. Bob. The readings are impossible and he does little to clear them up in class, the research paper is so impossible it's humorous, tests/quizes/anything you will ever write or say in the class will always fall short of his expectations. But at least you talk about TV and movies, which you hate by the end..

Horrifyingly Difficult. By far the most challenging class i have or will ever take at Suffolk. Great Lectures and fun to talk to after class. Tests are graded to every little detail, and essay writing makes you feel like a horrible person.

Carragee is absolutely the most difficult grader I have ever had the misfortune of having at Suffolk. He relies entirely too heavily on the books - everything we discussed came from reading materials in the books. Hated this class. Research paper was impossible. Overly difficult grader. Awful, awful class.

Kiss your GPA goodbye if you're taking this as a senior and are doing it for the honors. It's possible to pass, but you'll get sub-par grades nearly the entire semester with bordering-rude comments. Not entirely clear, uses textbook as his crutch and thinks he's the God of writing research papers. Good luck and God speed.
