Comment:

Dr. Atlmann is a intelligent professor who has no trouble understanding his students. He is often available for assistance, and when he does, his explanations are clear and color-coded. He places heavy emphasis on methodology and provides the students with solid strategies for approaching problems. Beware of no-partial credit Pearson quizzes.

Comment:

Some people liked him, but to me his teaching style was pretty dull. He would just read off a power point and then maybe do a demo in the front of the class, then leave you to do some example problems in class. If you needed help he would be there for office hours.

Comment:

Altmann is great. I would stay after most classes to ask him homework problems that I couldn't figure out. Always very patient and enthusiastic about helping. Physics is hard, but it would be much harder without having Dr. Altmann. Highly recommend.

Really nice and helpful. I had trouble with physics only because it was all brand new to me, but Altmann was a great professor for my first taste of the subject.

Dr. Altmann is a really nice person; however, I really struggled with his class. When I would go to his office hours, I ended up leaving more confused than when I went in. Also, he is not very approachable and I felt like I was imposing even though I came when he had designated office hours. He made me feel stupid and ignorant about physics.

Altmann really made Modern Physics interesting! Tough class, but definitely not impossible to get a good grade with him. Its easy to overlook the weekly extra credit, but you'll regret it if you don't do it. Tests are pretty hard so do the practice test he gives you and study a lot!

This class is going to be difficult. Tests are hard as well as the homework. Do all of the homework and try your best. Attend class and partipate, this will get you points that will help your grade if you don't do great on tests. Do problems at the end of the chapter to prepare for tests.

A lot more difficult than PHY 113, but really interesting. Homework is worth a lot, so work with other people to make sure you get it right. The weekly extra credit is easy to forget about, but it really makes a difference in your final grade if you do it. He's a great guy who genuinely enjoys teaching!

Dr. Altmann is a great guy, as nice as they come! Class material is challenging but he is extremely helpful and will do everything to get you through if you put forth effort. His weekly extra credit stuff is easy to overlook but make sure you do it, it's worth it in the long run. Staggered assignments are bearable, and he's happy to help!!

Easy class even if you're not a science person. He actually understands that a lot of people taking this class AREN'T science people and he's okay with that. A nice variety of tests, concepts aren't hard, very fair and tries to make physics fun. If you've got to take a lab science, make it this one.

Great teacher. Likes to do proofs which isnt too exciting but he does it so you'll learn. Very easy to go to for help and very willing to help. Easy guy to get along with and is a good guy in general. Take him for physics

He has a rockin' midwestern accent. Oh, and he is a really nice guy, too. He definitely cares about his students and whether or not they learn. Sometimes he can be a little vague when explaining concepts, but he is still very fair.
