Comment:
Prof. McCall is an amazing professor. Her demeanor is so friendly that you can forget just how knowledgeable she is. She is helpful to her students, and she chooses her textbooks very carefully. I really learned a lot from her class, and the books are enjoyable to read. The information in the books will haunt you long after the end of the class.

She's all over the place. I didn't understand her lectures one bit, and it was difficult to know what to put in my notes. Her tests were terribly worded and 100% multiple choice. Plus she doesn't post grades online so each time you want to know your grade you have to e-mail her. Would NOT recommend.

DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANYTHING. Her lectures are painfully boring, she is all over the place and she is incredibly vague when explaining what she wants. Her Senior Seminar is worthless. If you want to go to grad school, this senior seminar will not help you at all. She does not belong teaching.

Her lectures are extremely boring. She tossed quizes and exams that she didn't even cover in class. The hourly exams contain very high vocabulary, all multiple choice, and hard. If it weren't for the book I would have cried. Also, I asked her for help and infornation on grades and extra credit multiple times and was ignored.Don't recommend at all.

She is very scatter brained. She doesn't care what your excuse is if you miss a quiz, no matter what you can't make it up. She's very boring. I get more from just reading the book than I do sitting in her hour and a half class. She's terrible. I do not recommend her at all.

Terrible class and professor. Other professors who teach this class require 12-15 page papers. McCall has a few minor papers if you can handle the brain damage that comes from sitting in her class.

Dr. McCall definitely knows her stuff when it comes to the early American period. As someone who is a kinesthetic learner, I don't do well with straight mult. choice quizzes. If you are the type of person that does well with all mult. choice quizzes than she is the prof. for you, otherwise I do not recommend taking her.

I find her personality fine, but her teaching style is jumping around topics and not all together linear, trying to find what to write in your notes is tough to figure out.

She is a nice and funny teacher but her tests are ridiculously hard no matter how much you study for them. They are way too detailed and words the questions badly. Also she wastes a lot of time in class taking attendance and you get graded on going.

Really nice professor. The Senior Seminar is a pretty wasteful class and she knows it, although she piles on some meaningless work that should be in a freshman level course. You do use the books and have several projects/papers/workbook items throughout the class. Overall though she makes the class fun. Just a bit more work than other classes!

She does waste 15-20 minutes on attendance, as if taking attendance wasn't bad enuf as it is. Also, should have been a lit. teacher, cause that's what she really does. There is a mandatory potluck, which I skipped b/c it's a waste of time especially during finals. Also may have to give long speeches. She is nice though.

Large amounts of time wasted in class taking attendance, about 15 mins every day. Unfair grading procedures. The "final" was a mandatory potluck...Do not recommend!

I had her for American Culture I and it has been one of the best classes I've ever taken at Metro. She's a tough grader, but she has made me such a better writer. Also, she's pretty reasonable with the reading assignments and a delight to talk to in class and outside of class. I fully recommend her.

She's one of the hardest professors but made my writing jump two grade levels. I recommend her, this coming from a usually lazy student. She was worth having as prof. b/c I considered her more like a writing trainer more than anything.

One of the hardest professors I ever had - and one of the best! Expects perfection, but for those willing to improve themselves, it's not impossible to do. Very hard grader and expects history majors to know how to write. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be half the writer or student I am now.

Horrible teacher. Class time was spent doing nothing or listening to her complain about her pet peeves on essays. There was no point in going to class and she graded the essays as if we were in grad school. I did well and I'm done with her classes. I'm avoiding her like the plague.
