Prof. Van is an amazing teacher! She is very knowledgeable about what she teaches and has great insight on women and politics. I highly recommend this class and this professor in general. She responds to emails in a timely manner and gives great feedback.

Comment:

I love Prof Van! She is knowledgeable and makes the class engaging and interesting. She seems to really care about her students and is always open to discussing things with you. Pay close attention to content and grammar on papers but know that if you improve as the semester continues, shell bump up your grade.

She was a wonderful professor! She describes things well and keep students engaged throughout class. She runs a tough class but you walk out feeling very well-informed and she gives great feedback on how to improve in her class that you can apply to other classes, too.

With all that was covered and expected, I did better than I had anticipated. I didn't try as hard as I'd wish because I was so overloaded that semester. My only regret now is that I couldn't take her class in person, on campus. I def made use of the books, Powerpoints WITH NOTES and the internet to help me with a lot of things.

Considering all that was covered and expected, I did better than I anticipated. I didn't try as hard as I wish I had only because I was overloaded that semester. Dr. Van might be the best professor at Mary Baldwin. She's kind, she's brilliant, and she's been a mentor to many of her students. Whether you need to go over course material, talk through an academic problem or need a shoulder to cry on Dr. Van is always there. The class was easy. She was clear about what she expected. Didn't choose this class because I'm a feminist but it kind of turned me into one. Don't fall too behind on notes, you'll write more than you can imagine.I took three science courses at the same time(bio/chem/psych)and I'm pretty sure I wrote more for her than any of the other classes.

Amazing teacher. she tells you from the beginning she loves her subject and she is there to teach. If you dont want to learn dont go to her class. take any and every class you can from her. she is amazing and will work as hard as she can to make sure you dont fail

How can you not love a teacher who names her daughter "Elizabeth Cady"? She's a blast in the classroom and out, and not nearly as biased as she warns you she will be. She likes to play devils advocate against her own beliefs most of the time!

Dr. VA is my advisor and I have to say that having her for senior sem was very challenging. However, she bent over backwards to help all of us out. Her Women in Politics class is the reason I joined the major. I love her to death and think she is an amazing teacher, biasis and all.

She's awesome. I'm a Republican, so I was a little nervous when I was taking a political class with a Democrat. But she's great. She always gives a warning that her biased opinion is.... but her classes aren't that biased. In one class, she defended Bush for half the period to play devil's advocate.
