Comment:
Taking religion and science in the West with Dr. Brown was one of the best experiences I have had at Trinity. The class pushed me to think critically and creatively about the subjects presented. It is a loss for future Trinity students not to have him as their professor. I am proud of the grade I got after working hard for it.

Dr Brown is awesome. While asian religions wasn't the easiest class, I learned so much that I will be able to apply to my major and post- graduation pursuits. Dr Brown is brilliant and engaging, even at 8:30 in the morning. This class wasn't a breeze, but if you're willing to put in the work it is incredibly rewarding.

A really good guy who cares about his students and the subject. Stickler with attendance and you must contribute alot during discussion. Not too many A's but easy to get a B.

Challenging. Requires a high level of reasoning and critical thinking. I had an A in the class all semester, he told me I was brilliant after reading my term paper, then rebuked me for not applying myself previously, and finally failed me for lack of attendance. I guess he thought he was motivating me. it is an elective lighten up bro. Strange Man!

Brown can seem like a really intimidating professor but he is so nice and helpful if you just go see him. His tests require critical thinking but he gives you everything you need to do well. His tests are take home which is nice and he is so organized that his class is a joy.

Comment:
Tests involve "critical analysis", which means remember what he said in class and repeat it back under pressure and in essay format. Professor's attitude annoys me-- not worth the 8:30 time-slot. Sure, material can be thought provoking, but any thoughts provoked came from the reading, not class.

Really Nice guy! And he knows his stuff too! but his exams are a little ridiculous. They're all about "insights," which in my opinion is how much you can BS under pressure. I learned a lot and he knows what he's talking about, I just was frustrated bc I got an 88 on an essay final exam and needed a 89 for A-. He doesn't give many A's

This is a class where you certainly have to put some work in. But if you do, you will come out with a different outlook on life and religion. The class is interesting and thought-provoking and definitely recommend for all. Don't expect to get an A though, but it is easy to get a B or B+.

Religion and Science in the West. Dr. Brown gives take home exams and you can drop one. They are essay based and take alot of thought. He grades pretty tough but gives tons of feedback so you can improve alot on the next test. There is a big semester long paper. He also requires attendance... you need to go anyway to learn.

He was a great professor, he cared about his students and gave great feedback on tests and even short essays that didn't count for a grade. The tests are difficult, you have to spend a good amount of time studying, but they are take home. It's an interesting course, at one point you have to go to the hindu temple which was an interesting experience

Dr. Brown rocks, the first day of class he came in dressed up as Frankenstein's creature, this being the first of several such aperances. Dr. Brown is helpful and quite clear in his instructions. He helps you if you have a problem. First Year Seminar with him is easy and rather fun.

Not the cake walk my seminar to be- but also much more interesting. Be ready to have every assumption you've ever had questioned, cuz he revels in every opportunity to make you think. Great teacher, and I suspect I'll take some of his classes later in my career at Trinity.
