I really liked him: For interdisciplinary studies, his going off on tangents sometimes and relating more individual approaches to subjects really enriched the class material. I can see how that might not be as helpful in an introductory anthropology course, though! Even so, I learned a lot, and I wish he taught more courses. I'd sign up!

What a great instructor! HeĆ¢€™s funny, helpful and brings the subject to life. He does go on a tangent once and awhile, but I have learned that those tangents have real meaning to the subject.

In no way engaging or entertaining (despite what he thinks). Material discussed often had little, or nothing to do with course material at all. I purchased a textbook, and never opened it. If I wanted to hear crackpot conspiracy theories and South Park impersonations, I'd go to an internet cafe.

He's very entertaining and the research topic was fun to write but I really didn't learn an entire thing out of that class.

He's a joke. The class made a drinking game out of his idiosyncracies. I have learned more about anthropology from Wikipedia. You're paying to see his one man show not be taught. The show is creepy and he can't carry a tune.

Great guy, not so great teacher. Went off on tangents that sometimes lasted most of the class. Assignments were vague and there were just too many. (2 assignments, mid and final exam - all in one term) Wouldn't reccomend him.

this guy will make your class interesting as hell and even though he does go on some tangents, they keep the class interersting and make you want to pay attention. as long as you listen when hes talking about stuff you can see its relevance to the topic, and when he talks about the topic at hand its obvious he knows his****. overall a great prof.

Great guy, but not the best prof I've ever had. He knows his stuff all right, but he tends to go off on tangents in his lectures and talks like Cartman from South Park. I enjoyed his class quite a bit, but I found I got more *relevant to the test* information from Kilmurray. Really nice guy though.

he's arrogant and sarcastic in a VERY condescending way, amazing textbook but he doesn't follow it, likes to talk about himself in class...Paul T. is a much better lecturer and prof.

A relentlessly unfunny charlatan with a complete lack of competence when it comes to teaching. If you hate school and are into bad humour for ironic purposes, Tyrell should appeal to your cynical needs. A horrible professor and an annoying man. By the way, I hated him and I got an A in the class.

This guy seems like he's really intelligent, but I find he goes off on tangents.. He'll tell you a million things that are cool, just for your own curiosity, but have nothing to do with the material you need to study. I had to look over his notes several times to derive the meaning from them, because he's such an abstract thinker. nice guy though.

Needs some help. Great guy but needs to help us out by answering e-mails or going to the forum. Can't write a good 15+ pg essay if you don't give a thesis back until a few weeks before its due. Answer our e-mails Mark and stop singing.

Interesting Material, Horrible Prof. This guy is really impressed with himself. Tries so hard to show the rest of the students how smart he is. Jealous of some guy named Paul. Kinda of gets annoying. No help at all when it comes to pretty much anything. Word to the wise take Paul's class.

Awesome Prof. Most interesting guy, goes of topic but keeps it interesting. Really knows his stuff, but always talks down Normal ANTH students as if they're stupid. HUMS students arent that special, so I suspect bias. But in the mean time I love the class.
