I took Dr. Dunn for honors. All of the honors courses are tough, but I thought Dr. Dunn cared a lot of her sections and her students. The art history part was probably my fav and I'd take one of her regular courses!

She's very knowledgeable and a nice teacher, but her lectures can sometimes be dry. This class does require effort if you want an A. She is a tough grader, but your grade will improve if you show her that you are making an effort. Study the material throughout the semester and you'll be fine. Overall, I liked the class and really learned a lot.

The coursework in her honors course was tough, but she reached out to students who were struggling and was available for extra feedback. Some people expected a simple course where they gave their opinions about art, but this is a history course. I loved Dr. Dunns feminist perspective. I switched majors to art history because of Dr. Dunn.

she lectured for the WHOLE 75 minutes and constantly kept us extra couple of minutes. The study guides are way to broad and have 50-100 artists and pictures that you have to know but only around 10-15 will be on the exam. Unless you have amazing memory and can write fast I would AVOID!!

This class is WAY too intensive for core. Lecture attendance mandatory, but I could never listen because she's so dry. Expects you to recall the SMALLEST of details on TIMED exams - she gives you 10 minutes to write a full page front and back, and even less on identification slides. I spent way too much time on this class for it being a core. AVOID

She is a sweet woman, but her class requires a lot. Keep in mind that we are at Loyola which in itself is rigorous, but she makes this class impossible. The final is worth 250 pts, and the midterm is worth 100, quiz is 150pt. For an art class, its a lot. Its very intensive, take something else. i do not recommend this class at all.

Sweet woman. She assigns students parts of the reading and we have to write up a review guide on it for participation. All honors courses are mandatory but it is okay to skip one if absolutely necessary. If you talk to her and explain her the problem she usually helps you work around it. Go see her before every paper, she gives great feedback.

Dr. Dunn is a sweet woman but her lectures are boring, the exams are intense, and she requires two visual analysis papers. This class requires a ton of studying to memorize all of the material she expects you to know for the exams. She is a tough grader and it is nearly impossible to get an A in her class. Take a different class if you need core.

Excellent teacher and material is easy if you study. All you need to know is artist's name, date and name of art, and some brief background for the exams. Graded on a lot of things so look at syallabus before. Will have to go to art museum at least once, but its free.

When it comes to HONR 101 discussion leaders, I think Dr. Dunn is a safe bet. Her discussion is upfront and review heavy which is good for the exams. Unfortunately she focuses a lot on getting students to talk which I think isn't very helpful because they usually don't know what they are talking about. She grades the essays pretty hard.

Professor Dunn is a very sweet woman. I don't know if it was the time of the class (9:20 am), the people that were in it, or her teaching style but something didn't mesh very well for my section. The class was just kind of dry. If you take her, hope that you have a class willing to participate and liven the discussion.

She is fairly easy going and really works to make the stress of honors less. She is a fair grader and lets you know what she wants on papers. She is pretty good at moving the conversation along but it makes things easier if everyone is participating and discussing. Very sweet woman #teamdunn5ever

I took Dr. Dunn for Honors 101, which is one of the hardest courses at LUC. She was very helpful when talking about papers and getting feedback on those papers. She assigns summary assignments which are a drag to do, but they're very helpful during finals. She honestly is super helpful and is willing to go the extra mile for her students.

if you are taking this class for your art core, FIND SOMETHING ELSE. Seriously. AVOID if your major is demanding. This class easily sucked up hours of my week and was NOT easy. Participation is necessary!

Comment:
Dr. Dunn is helpful and engaging. It's worth noting that participation is absolutely critical in her class, considering she's not the kind of professor who gives the lecture over again in her discussion section. Often times she makes students take the lead in the discussion section, waiting for them to ask questions rather than lecturing.

Yes, you do have to memorize artists and works. But, it is interesting nonetheless. For someone who isn't creative (like myself), Dunn really helps you appreciate the importance of art. She wants students to do well and is 100% clear on what she expects. Tests take some prep, but the atmosphere of the class encourages you to do well.

Dr Dunn is a brilliant woman who has a passion for the arts. I have taken 5 classes with her so far and have gotten a B or higher in each. Her lectures require focus bc they are long and often dry, but if you read and focus in class you will do well and learn quite a bit about the fascinating nature of art, specifically Renaissance & Baroque Italy

She is very dry and unless the people in class are talkative, the discussion drags. However, she is EXTREMELY helpful. She emails back very quickly and is flexible for appointments to look over your paper or answer questions. Send your paper to her and your grade will be way better. She's really nice and very passionate when she lectures about art.

I took Dunn for both honors 101 and Art History. She''s a pretty sweet lady but god does she make everything dry. Art history itself is pretty cool but when she talks I count the minutes until I leave. If you have the choice between her and a grad student take the grad student.
