Comment:

Professor Burnett was an awesome teacher to take during the summer; however, the class was challenging, to say the least. Extensive study time is essential to succeed in this class. Even though I recieved an A in the class, I worked very hard at it; even then, the tests were difficult. In sum, the Professor Burnett made the class worth while.

Comment:

Easy going teacher with a good sense of humor. There was no book for the class but he printed out a note booklet and lab manual which you pay him for ($80). Tests were half lab diagrams, half multiple choice. His lectures and material followed Physicalgeography.net VERY closly. Essential to be in class to get hints on how to do the labs. Fun class

Comment:

Life changing class. The things I learned changed the way I look at Earth as our home. For this reason this class is not easy. But it is worth it. Take it if you are interested in gaining knowledge that is practical, useful and REAL. If youre a baby, then don't take it.

Comment:

I just finished his winter class. All I can say is that in th e 46 units I have finished with a 4.0 at SMC this is probably the most enjoyable class--and I am an econ major. Dr Burnett uses pp presentations and is very willing to help you with any topics you need help with. You are missing out if you do not take him for your lab science.

This teacher was pretty cool the class is not hard at all which makes it easier to slack off. You get weekly labs which are not hard (the answers are in the notes) There's no homework only a take home lab once a week. For the mostpart you take notes.

LOTS of material, notes to take during class, reading - labs are really boring. BUT if you study, know and understand the material and do the work, you will do well on exams which is the bulk of your grade. Lab assignments are graded, but you can work with partners and get answers from them if you're stuck, which is good. Overall, good class.

There are 1 midterm and a final which comes with a lecture test and a lab test. The Lab tests are reasonable but the lecture tests are really hard. So be prepared to come to class and work a lot to get a satisfactory grade. Prof. Burnett is really nice thou, I was at first getting a D but he gave me a chance to pass the class, thanks!

This class gets interesting as the class progresses. I took the class during the summer. Do not slack in the class. There is a lot of material to learn but you'll be glad that you came into the class. He is an approachable teacher, so questions are welcomed. Do the labs, read the book, and you'll do fine.

This prof isn't for slackers! He made a potentially miserable & boring class into a fun & interesting experience. The lab part is probably easier than what you'd have to do in chem or bio lab. Hard tests (only 2 of them) but he is a fair grader. Do all your work, show up to class, ask questions, study hard, and you'll get a good grade.

Burnett's a groovy cat.I took summer session & he made this class VERY tolerable -wasnt NEARLY as bad as I thought it'd be.He does pwerpnt lecture & lets class out early- a BIG plus.Only 2 exams so u must do well.Exams not easy, u NEED the book,but he's fair.Overall, I went in hating the subject, but actually learned alot.Need a lab?Take Burnett.

He makes the class interesting and goes the extra mile to make sure everyone understands the topics. Tests are definitions and short answer, NO MULTIPLE CHOICE, the study guide is your best friend! Study up on everything! Go to class, ask questions and you'll be OK. I'm not good with science and have terrible study but I managed to get a B.

Prof. Burnett is nice, but his exams are tough. I screwed both exams and got a D. Luckily, he gave me a take home assignment to do to make some points up. Now I get a C. Thanks prof.

Professor Burnett is a wonderful teacher. His test are difficult but he grades on a curve, which is always very helpful. In order to pass this class, be prepared to study for at least 6 hours for each exam. Study the studyguide because that is extremely helpful. Finally, make sure you attend every class.

Professor B. is a great teacher & the class is interesting. However, if you are a super brainic you will do good otherwise his tests are really hard (essays and you give definitions). He only gives you a midterm and a final for the class & lab, so if you do poorly you have very little opportunity to make it up (no extra credit). Hard to get an A.

Prof. Burnett is a great prof I loved his class. If you need a class with a lab, I highly recom. him. I learned soooooo much that i have a new found respect for mother earth!! buy the book almost all the ans. for the lab are there. Must read the chapters!! 1 mid-term and 1 final. be clear and concise in your ans. easy class Prof. B. you rock!!!!

he cuts class short and is a fair grader--if you work hard. tip: talk to him and let him know that you are interested and a good student, otherwise if you are borderline A-B he may bump you to a B. fairly interesting, but could use some field trips and less labs! overall a good class to take, especially if you hate chemistry and physics

Comment:

Great prof. Answers questions clearly. Lecture is clear and most helpful to study. His lecture is on PowerPoint ;-). Labs are fun and help understand content. He's young and has a cool laid back attitude. You will learn cool stuff in class, which is mildly hard, lots of content to learn.
