Tests are harder than they need to be; he is trying to prepare you for organic chem. He is unable to explain concepts in an easy way, so try to get a good recitation teacher! However, he is skilled at lecturing and is very available outside of class as he means well. If you bust your ass you can do well, but prepare for a struggle.

I had this professor for my chem 2500 class this past semester. He was absolutely horrendous. Though he is available outside of class he is not helpful in the slightest. He is not understanding, gives incredibly difficult exams, and is terrible at answering questions. A lot of his exam questions are like trick questions. Do not take this professor.

He gave 0s to all the students in his chem 2 class because some cheated. Just because some cheated doesnt mean everyone should be given a 0 on the test. The exam average was in the 40s so that should say enough already

Kobrak bears all the hallmarks of a bad educator: conveys the material poorly, intransigent about feedback, etc. Perhaps worst of all, he deliberately designs overly difficult exams so you "think deeply about chemistry." If that were his true aim, why not encourage deep thinking on homework assignments, group projects, etc? Avoid at all costs.

He's really really helpful. I took him for preorganic chemistry in the winter session. He always answered my questions with a good explanation, and also always made sure everyone in the class understood something before continuing. He kept going at a question until everyone understood. I would totally take him again! Also helpful outside of class.

he is an okay professor. I went to chem tutoring very often to understand material. He is a really smart professor who knows his stuff so he tends to over explain everything making it seem more complicated than it actually is. clear grading criteria. quizzes are often, two tests and a final. he is accessible outside of class, answers emails.

Comment:
Just try to find a better professor. His lectures are monotone and so confusing because he expects students to know/remember what they studied in chem 1050. There are quizzes almost every week, exams are hard just because his review sections are useless. I would never take him again. Try to avoid it!

If youre reading this review, here is your sign! DO not take this class with this professor. If youve already enrolled, DROP OUT ASAP! Quiz like every week, everyone always fails. Doesnt post slides. Encourages students who are struggling in class to drop out??? Like ???? WHY???? Help US THIS IS UR JOB!? Dont take him. Consider yourself warned!

Hes a good man who likes to teach. Whatever chem class you take, you have to put a lot of your own time into learning it and practicing- the material is DENSE. Try to get a good rec instructor. The tests are hard and require you to have practiced with the material. Lectures are informative so its best to attend class so you know what to study.

he is a good professor actually. the problem is just that he uses the slides for the lectures. make sure you study both textbook, slides, and ask other questions otherwise the materials will be hard. overall, he is a very nice professor. very interactive with the students.

My senpai. He's mad smart and when he teaches he genuinely wants people to understand what chemistry is all about and cares more about us understanding it for knowledge as opposed to the exam. His exams are mad straightforward and if you pay attention in class you'll be set to get A's.

He's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. He's actually a really good lecturer and studying intensely from the textbook will get you an A. In the class an A was around an 85 so it's not that bad, but just requires that you work hard. He's a sweet man that likes to teach.

He was one of the hardest professors I took. I had to really study on my own and really wished he gave answers on the homework questions with a how to guide it would help since not all of them was in the textbook. When students asked him questions during lecture he just brushes them off or tell them to ask him after class.

By far the worst, most disrespectful professor I have ever had in my years of studying in Brooklyn college. Always shows attitude. You always get the feeling he is cold and doesn't care much for his students. Avoid him if you can. Chemistry Is so special to have such trash teaching it.

I have taken this class 3 times.. point in case. Okay but seriously, the first time i took it, my failure was my own fault, negligence and poor study habits. Second time, i was arrogant, did not nearly enough practice. Third, time: first exam.. failed, second exam barely passed, final it was an illusion. Material is dense DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE.

Professor kobrak is by far the worst professor Ive ever had at Brooklyn college. He lacks all teaching skills, gives out hard exams that are nothing like the problems we do in lecture and is not very nice as a person either. Stayyyy away from this professor bc he will only make chemistry harder than it actually is.

your first test is just a MIDTERM and then a final. the school set student up where there were no other professors to take but kobrak. TEST heavy. have to go tutoring and have to study your ass off. exams are difficult. he is monotoned and just assumes you know everything like he does. no homework. but if u dont practice you wont know.

Kobrak is a tough professor. I found his lectures pointless. Do not expect to go in getting an A. His class is time-consuming and requires a lot of effort to even do decently. If you do have to take him get a good lab professor!
